I suppose the situation could have been a lot worse. My son has been diagnosed with cyclothimia and at first I thought of it as something horrific and dangerous. But the doctor explained to me that there are similar conditions with a much worse symptomatology and that this is something that can be treated fairly easily. What would be the best possible treatment for cyclothimia?

You are right. Cyclothimia is not such a serious condition and it is considered to be a mild form of the bipolar disorder. Actually, if left untreated, this condition might complicate and become bipolar. And usually, relatives of the patients that suffer from bipolar get affected by cyclothimia. As for the treatment, behavioral therapies are used commonly, sometimes even meds like lithium and verapamile.
