I have had the same issue for several years now. I also get numbness in my fingers, toes and the top of my head as well as cramps - especially in my legs- and massive headaches.
I've been to several doctors. Long story short, for me it was/is a combonation of low blood pressure, dehydration/ loss of electrolytes and acute animia.
I've altered my diet some to help with the animia. I also make sure to drink plenty of water with added electrolytes (like smart water. Gatorade and powerade have electrolytes in them as well). This seems to help. As for the low blood pressure, that's something that I just have to try and manage for the time being.
When I start to get that blackout feeling, I find that it helps if I squeeze my fists and, oddly enough, my butt cheeks together.
Hope this helps

I have had this happen several times. I'm not a teen, BTW, I'm 41. I have been looking for info about this and this is the first place I found that people were talking about it.

The majority of the time it happens because I am grossed out. I can't stand blood. When I get blood drawn I sometimes blackout after, and have to wait to leave for like 5 minutes because I can't see anything and there is ringing in my ears. I try to avoid the blackouts the best I can. When I get my blood drawn now, I demand to lie down while they do it, and I bring apple juice with me to drink after.

There was only one time it happened when it had nothing to do with being grossed out. I was at the gym and my trainer was pushing me really hard. I kept telling her I needed to stop and take a break. I started seeing stars, I blacked out and couldn't see, and my hearing was totally blocked so I couldn't hear much. I had a bottle of water with me so I drank it, and eventually came back to normal. I told her what happened and we stopped for the day.

I'm sure the episode at the gym was dehydration and I think the episodes when I get grossed out are called vasovagal syncope, except that usually causes fainting, and I have never fainted.

i'm so glad i'm not the only one who experienced this, i was on the train standing due to today being a weekend and there were no seats left, and suddenly my vision started to get black. i was terrified because this was the first time i have experienced something like this. my hearing was slowly fading too as i could no longer hear the buzz of commuters and the monotone voice announcing each stop. i was panicking, and i got really dizzy. i leaned my head on the pole. i felt really terrible, and after about ten minutes my vision started to come back, as well as my hearing as i heard that the next station was dover. when my vision came back, it came slowly, and i could only see blurred images for a couple of minutes. when i really regained my vision and hearing, i rushed out the train, and sat down immediately. it was only then when i realized i was sweating profusely, as if i had just ran a marathon. the seat i was sitting on was wet by my thighs. my hair was sticky and my shirt was drenched. i felt really drained of energy. after that, i rested for a while before going to buy a small pancake with chocolate filling and soy bean milk from mr bean. i felt better after that and more energized. i went home and took a nap, and felt better after that. i hope this never happens again.

Well this something similar to this has been happening all my life. It's not persistent and random I could just be sitting down or walking around, I don't know what it is but it' not that bad so it hasn't been checked out. (I'm 14 btw) So I'll just be minding my own business when my ears ring and m vision goes partially black and it feels like something moved in my brain? I don't know or it's like a tapping on my skull o.o its creepy then, I kinda stumble. It happened a lot more in elementary school and hurt more in my head and I jt closed my eyes. I was like a little reeeeeaaaally bad temporary head ache in the back of my head (but worse than a head ache), although I wasn't that bad because it didn't last long. The only time this happened for a long period of time was when I was standing in line for a waterslide when my vision got all messed up and my friends sounded like they were next to a plane taking off (cause of the ringing), and I got really dizzy and had to sit down or I would feel nauseous. It was really weird because when I started walking around it got better, but when I would stop the black spots came back into my vision and I got dizzy again. I need a bit of help from someone who knows what the hecko this is? :c

Did you find anything out yet? My daughter who is 13 is experiencing the same thing for the last few months. She had an EEG to check for seizure activity which came back fine, she saw a neurologist who gave her a CAT scan and MRI of her brain all good. Eye doctor said all fine. So blood work showed thyroid was off, high white blood cell count, and borderline anemic. But none of those would affect her vision or hearing. Good luck, it is a process of emlination. Also her diabetes, Lyme disease etc all were ok.

Hi, I'm a 16 year old girl and the same thing happened to me? And I was wondering if you ever found out what caused it to happen?

I've been experiencing something very similar! I'm a 22 year old female and there have been 3-5x in the past 2 years when I've felt the nausea, dizziness, and even sweats. However, the last 2x it progressed into loosing sight, hearing, equilibrium, and motor skills while still being fully conscious. The first time scared me so badly but the second time I was like "oh.. This again. Ive got this!"

The 1st time I blacked out like that I was lucky to have a team if EMTs right near by and they ran blood sugar, blood pressure, and all sorts if other tests and all my levels was fine. I threw up and felt better, still weak, but better.

The 2nd time this happened to me was yesterday I'm starting to notice connections between these experiences.

Each time this happens to me, after my senses go fuzzy (even before the blackouts started) I get this immediate need to throw up. Once I throw up, within seconds the color comes back to my skin, my sight, hearing & balance return and I feel soooo much better.

I eat a dairy free healthy diet but sometimes I don't have the chance to check ingredients inside the bun of a veggie burger or in the sauce of a dish when I'm eating out or at work.

That being said, every time I've had the more mild symptoms without blackouts, I've noticed that it's after I accidentally have dairy. And it's not like just one thing with dairy, it's if I've had it for a few days in a row.

I've also noticed that the blackouts have happened when I've not only had minimal amounts if dairy repeatedly over a few days, but when my levels of anxiety are also really high at the same time.

My mom did some research for me and I've done some as well and the most reasonable/plausible explanation for me seems to be:

dairy + anxiety = blackouts

I'm not sure if this will be helpful to you, but I thought is share in hopes that it would :)

Many blessings,
Kate Masca

I have the same thing happen to me when I'm at a hospital. Has happened twice while visiting people - can't see, can't hear, shakey, sweaty etc. Awful! I put it down to being an anxiety attack. But it happened to me today, first time in a couple of years, out on the street while I was out for a walk. Don't know what to think anymore? :-/

This just happened to me last night for the first time. I was in Walmart with my best friend and her boyfriend. We were at the register and I started to get dizzy, my ears started to ring really loud, and my vision went fuzzy and then black. I remember leaning up against the convertor belt because I couldn't keep my balance. My friends boyfriend tried to help me to the bathroom but I didn't even make it 5 steps and I collapsed. When I woke up the first thing I said was did I just pass out? And then I realized I was covered in sweat then freaked out started sweating even more and almost passed out again. Its was so scary. My friend said my pupils were so big you couldn't see the color in my eyes and my lips were so pale you couldn't see them. This has never happened to me before and was probably one of the scariest things.

My 16 year old daughter has 4-6 episodes each day when her vision goes completely black for 3-5 seconds. It is not necessarily when she stands up but often just when walking. She also has severe nausea and dizziness. Tests have not found anything yet. I have a thread here describing her symptoms and recent tests if anyone has any insight, please post here. Thank you.
