I recently gave blood and was worried about the procedure. My nurse was busy when I was done with the donation, so she called to another nurse to take out the needle. This nurse was not helping other donors, but was working behind the desk where they bring the blood, but he did not change gloves when he came to take out the needle. I'm not sure what they do at that station. Are they just boxing the blood there? Could he have in any way come into contact with blood? I'm sure that the bags are pretty tamper proof, but is there never any blood on the tubes or around the needle that he would have touched when boxing them? Did he have to change his gloves before he came and helped me?
