It's good that you have noticed discharge differences. Tracking the look, amount, structure, smell, and everything else of your vaginal discharge gives you a good idea about what is normal for you personally, and it helps you recognize issues sooner.
It sounds to me like it might be possible the brown discharge was an ovulation bleeding? "Clear jelly" discharge is what you'd usually see around the time of ovulation. This kind of discharge is "friendly to sperm" and facilitates conception. I would not be worried unless you have itching, pain, or the discharge smells bad.
