Hello! I had a surgery to fix a varicocele I had on my life testicle. I was supposed to get well in 3 days time, but instead I am still in a lot of pain, and my testicle is swollen and bruised. The reason I had the surgery is that my wife and I are trying to get pregnant. Is this normal or should I do anything about it?

Well, it is not really normal, but many vessels severed in the procedure may start to bleed into the tissues if they are irritated by any exercise, walking, pushing or pulling. You didn’t say if you were engaged in any activity after the surgery. The blood is in the tissues and the surrounding structures and should not affect the testicle. It would be a good idea for you to have a semen analysis following recovery period to see if live sperm are seen. The bruising is no longer in a testicle, but it will take some time for the bruising to go away.
