A heat source is usually the main cause of a burn. You may have consumed something that was too hot and this could have caused your taste buds to decrease to slow down the reproduction rate (22 hours). Whn you burn your tounge, every single taste (burnt or not) acts like a nerve. It usually takes about 3 days for a regular burn but can take upto a fortnight.

The "white spot" is most likley just an area of water loss and discolouration both cause be burns.  (If you've ever burnt your finger and got that "white bump" where the burn use to be - its the tounge equivlant.

Try, eating lots of vitamin C, protein and zinc, they are all responible for tissue repair, eating ice is also a soothing option.

Remember, getting a checkup is always wise, even if your tounge is really a burn.
