Will my baby be ok? I have heard so many sad stories about the birth defects and I just can’t get them out of my head. I am three months pregnant and I have stopped drinking a year ago. Can FAS happen if the woman stopped drinking while in pregnancy?

Well, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I mean, Fetal Alcohol syndrome can happen only if you are drinking while pregnant. Alcohol can penetrate the placental barrier and can disturb the normal development which might result in both mental and physical disorders. But if you do not take alcohol in pregnancy, everything should be just fine.
