I took the first pill of my birth control this month, and then went on vacation for a week and forgot to take the pills with me. So when I got home I got a new pack and I'm supposed to start them again on the first day of my period. But my periods more than a few days late, and I'm wondering if my slip up with the pill could have caused that? Is there any way it prevented me from ovulating at all?

I'd like to know because there's a tiny chance I could be pregnant, and I'd love some reassurance that there's another reason why my period could be late.

It is likely that your late period is caused by the pills. If you had unprotected sex during your holiday when you weren't taking the pills there is a chance of pregnancy.

The pills can have this effect and it might be a good idea to call the doctor that prescribed the pills and ask him/her or the nurse and see what they think.
