Hi there! I am looking for some info about sensorineural hearing loss. Very interesting stuff! I have already read that sensorineural hearing loss can be present at birth, like a kind of birth defect, or it can happen to people later in life for many reasons. But what I would like to know is if sensorineural hearing loss can lead to complete deafness?

Absolutely, it is possible and I have seen it happen before. It is quite rare though because sensorineural hearing loss can relatively easily be treated with drugs. Especially when sensorineural hearing loss is genetic, the patient has a high chance of losing their ability to hear permanently. With acquired sensorineural hearing loss this is less so.
