:) I have a question about birth control, and I cannot find the answer anywhere and it is bugging me.

So I know that When you are on birth control, you are putting estrogen and progesterone(well a synthesized version, anyways) into your body, in order for your pituitary gland to not produce FSH and LH so you do not ovulate.

If you do not ovulate, you do not have a "true period". Makes perfect sense. I understand that fine.

So at till the end of the 21days you are taking active pills, you start the week with no hormones. So your body's hormones dip down and you "bleed" because of the sudden drop. Also makes sense. So you bleed for a few days to make it seem like you are having a period, but for that full week, your body knows its not pregnant.

I guess I have two questions for this.

1. So would it be possible to spontaneously ovulate because of that dip in hormones? Is it the other factors(thickened cervical fluid, thinner lining) that keeps the risk lower in getting pregnant?

2. Say if you were to forget 3-4pills in a row, and you start to bleed(because its like at the end of the month when you stop taking active pills) How would you spontaneously ovulate and have that chance to get pregnant, if at day 22-28 you don't take pills and bleed as well?

I have had that question for a while now and even my teachers at school can't answer it(taking med lab tech) And it so happens that I was really sick and forgot 4pills last weekend, and started to bleed. I let myself bleed and just started a new pack afterwards, but Im wondering if there is still a chance to get pregnant, or if its just like at the end of the month?

I hope somebody understands what I'm trying to ask! because its driving me insane(I am the kind of person that if I have a question I need the answer to it) :)

thanks!
