I have been trying to get off Oxycodone for more than a month but I cannot say that I had much success. I have been using Oxycodone for the back pain and slowly got addicted. In a few days I will be starting with Subutex therapy and I hope that would help. Since I have already used some medications for this problem, I know that there might be a need for Lomotil. Can you mix Lomotil and Subutex?

Subutex really should be helpful with your addiction problems. Actually, that is its only function, helping people get off heroine, oxycodone etc. And yes, unfortunately it has some side effects, including stomach problems (diarrhea, for example). This is where Lomotil kicks in with its effect of slowing down the motions of intestines. I hope that this therapy would be successful for you.

Yea but Lomotil is also an opiate, correct? Will taking subutex with this medication cause precipitated withdrawal? I was just given these meds and am worried they will interact badly with each other. Thank you!

Hi, all.

Subutex (buprenorphine) is commonly used for opioid addiction treatment, while Lomotil (diphenoxylate/atropine) is typically used for treating diarrhea. Both medications can have central nervous system depressant effects, which may increase the risk of respiratory depression or other side effects.

Taking Subutex with Lomotil could potentially lead to an increased risk of these side effects. Additionally, Lomotil contains atropine, which can have anticholinergic effects. Combining opioids with anticholinergic drugs may increase the risk of certain side effects such as constipation, urinary retention, and blurred vision.

But if your doctor prescribed those to you, he or she is well aware of the risks and his / her estimate is that you are safe.
