Hi, guys. My friend has been experiencing some abdominal pain for months. Doctors first thought he had gastritis. At the end, he was misdiagnosed. It seems he has celiac disease. I would like to know how this is possible. Are there some certain tests for this disease? I would appreciate some info on this.

Hi. I think that this shouldn’t surprise you. Abdomen is a jungle. There are many organs that can be affected with the disease. Different organs can give similar symptoms and signs. That is why doctors can be easily misguided. An experience is needed here. There is a variety of tests here. I am sorry you friend was misdiagnosed. On the other hand, I am glad that the proper diagnosis has been finally made. I hope everything will be all right.

You are lucky your friends doctor did pick up that he has celiac. A gluten free diet will give him relief from stomache pains. I have it and a doctor never figured it out. I suffered for years from it. The celiac gene can be trigered anytime in your lifetime, if you have the gene. It mainly happens after a stressfull situtation.
