I am not a regular person when it comes to bm. ..so I've been taking miralax and just feel real gassy and not doing much for me. I am scheduled next week for liposuction of my abs and flanks. I was wondering if you can take a laxative a day before surgery to get cleaned out?

Since you say you take a laxative and it doesn't do much for you, the first thing I would do is stop taking laxatives, if you are taking them on a regular basis. Not a good idea without consulting your physician first.
Unless you are constipated in the days prior to surgery, I would not take a laxative. If you are constipated, call your doctor and ask him if it is ok to take a laxative prior to surgery. He would have the definitive answer. Surgery is a serious event with many possible drug interactions and consequences. This is not a question that a layman should answer.
