I just had the cryoablation done last week; I just got my first period today, I have really bad cramps. Is this normal? Any replies would be helpful

As my doc keeps saying every time I call with complaints: "For the first few months, EVERYTHING you experience is 'normal'". Take some ibuprofen, drink plenty of water, and cuddle up with a heating pad for a bit.

I had the procedure done at the beginning of September. My first period was ten times worse than any other period I've ever had in my life. I was so scared that I actually went to the emergency room after soaking 3 tampons (yes, I know you're not supposed to use them but I was desperate and at work), and three pads within fifteen minutes. I literally could not move off the toilet for about an hour, as I was just soaking through everything within a matter of minutes.

My second period was a little better, but I still ruined a mattress when I woke up and found myself in a puddle of blood. It is now my third month and I'm almost a week late, so perhaps the procedure actually worked.

FYI- I have a tangerine sized fibroid and was told that my uterus is twice the size of a normal woman's. These factors are supposed to affect the success of the procedure...the smaller a woman's uterus, the more successful it is.

I STRONGLY recommend being prepared for your first couple of periods by buying a small package of Depends urinary incontinence undergarments, pads, and bed underpads. Honestly, this was the only way I got any sleep that first month! I didn't really completely stop bleeding for several weeks.

Best of luck to you! I hope things get better!
