I have been taking anywhere from 50-100 mgs of vicodin a day for over a year. I suffer from herniated disks in my back. I seriously feel like I'm gonna lose it. The anxiety and restless legs and insomnia are the worst of it.

Have you ever visited a pain doctor, who is a specially trained anesthesiologist who treats patient who suffer intractable pain? Vicodin is a relatively weak pain-killer when compared to others that are available.
It appears that you are running the risk of liver damage by taking so much Vicodin. The culprit is the Acetaminophen that's added to the Vicodin, which, by the way, is available in different strengths. The least toxic is Norco 325/10. The "325" represents the number of milligrams of Acetaminophen, while the "10" is the actual amount of narcotic pain-killer.
Regular Vicodin contains 5mg. of narcotic pain-killer and about 500 mg. of Acetaminophen; 4,000 mg. a day of Acetaminophen is toxic.
Withdrawal is torture. I know, because I was in that situation myself. You need private professional help.

Hi,
I completely agree that you need professional help. My boyfriend was addicted to painkillers for a couple of years before I met him, but he got off of them himself. As far as I've heard, it was a terrible experience for him. However, after he got off of the painkillers he started drinking instead to self-medicate. He already had liver damage from the painkillers, and then he developed pancreatitis from have abused both the pills and the alcohol. Now, he's all mixed up with anti-psychotics, anti-depressants, etc. He can't drink ever again.
Even though you're weening yourself off of these, it isn't going to make everything okay. You may have done some damage already to your body that you don't know about. In my opinion, I really think you need to see a doctor, or at least a therapist. It seems too big for you to do it alone. I don't mean to push, but he's been making my boyfriend and my relationship pretty difficult. I don't want other people to have to go through these things.

I would love nothing more than to be able to see a pain management doctor but unfortunately I have no health insurance at the moment so that won't be happening. Looks like i'm stuck doing this on my own.

You are paying a doctor bill now, to get the vicodin, correct? IF you are suffering that much look into all you options.
Methadone is usually for life, but it has saved lives. Each addiction, pain and tolerance is their own.
Good Luck
