This Decadron has made me weird. I'd been on 4 pills a day, but asked the oncologist if I could cut it down and he said okay. Not sure if this swelled head up but down feeling is from the steroid, perhaps of the combo of the steroid with pain pills. He wants me to take it three times a day, as preventative. Few days ago I had bad reaction which, he believes will "settle down" after my body adjusts to the Xeloda. I know many of you have done Decadron. Is there anything you can do to decrease side effects? Today, I was driving to the grocery store, I felt weird and stoned, and that maybe driving isn't such a great idea right now. My vision seems to be affected, blurry and my eyes have been tearing much of the time.

I was taking Decadron when I took my chemo. I took it the day before, day of and day after, that is 3 days a week. I wouldn't be able to sleep for those days. At night I would take a Percoset to help offset the side effects to help me sleep. The doctors had also prescribed Adivan for me, I think is an anti-depressant. He would tell me to take that when I was having trouble sleeping. I think they thought I wasn't sleeping because I was anxious, but I wasn't sleeping because of the Decadron. There were just too many pills but I guess when you have cancer take whatever works.
