I was on the depo shot for a year. My husband and I decided we were ready for a baby so I stopped taking the shot and it took me 8 months before I became pregnant. I ended up having a miscarriage. We plan on trying again. Its heartbreaking that a shot could be the cause of so many people not being able to have healthy babies.

I had started taking depo at age 15 and never stopped for 15 years! I got off depo after I got married which was 1 year ago. I immediately had normal mentral cycles right when I stopped depo. I even took ovulation test and would ovulate every month right on schedule. my husband had 2 children before we got married so I know he isnt the reason why im not getting pregnant. I just dont understand why im getting pregnant if everything is normal with my body! Does anyone have any advise for me?

Hi, I took 1 shot of Depo in 1998. My period stopped for 7mnths, returned for several weeks, left for a few days and returned again for several months. That has been my cycle over the years. I've had a d&c, endometrial biospy, been on nuvaring, had a hysterscopy, and been told my weight is the cause of my bleeding. I've never been pregnant and have been told I'd need fertility treatment to conceive, I have cysts, PCOS, anemic and icing on the cake- taking depo can fix me! I honestly was considering it until I found this forum.. I just want to stop bleeding, creating crime scenes, and getting infections!

I took depo for about a year and a half next month in November it'll be two years that I've been of of it. Since I've only taken 3 months worth of birth control (pill) and that was the only thing that was able to get my periods going. My spouse and I are trying to conceive now and haven't seen successfully just yet. I know it isn't him because he has a child from a previous relationship. But I'm starting to think depo is bad news...have an appointment my my ob/gyn and we'll see what she has to say about this now..

My story is just like everyone elses. I started the depo when I was 17 and went off when I was 19. My last shot was June 2012 and here I am now TTC for the past year and still nothing. I have been taking ovulation tests for the past month everyday and still havent ovulated. But I know I was just fine before I took it because everything was normal. And I dont have a child and thanks to my lack of information from the DR, I proabably never will. :'( But Im still trying and still going to keep my fingers crossed and try to stay positive. But if I dont have a child soon, somebody will pay for it!!!! >;)

Hi I replied to this a while ago...I just wanted to recap. I had 4 children with no issues I went on depo after my 4 th only took it 3 times as I bleed the whole time...tried for 1 more had 4 early miscarrages and 2 ectopic 1 in each tube. Was told if I wanted more would have to see fertility specialist ...so thought forget it .Well 11 years from my last live birth I am now 8 months pregnant ....not sure how but I am sure all my issues were from depo they ran all regular tests and could find nothing wrong with my husband or I....so I just want to say yes its a hard road to travel but don't give up hope!!!

I started depo when I was 18 years old. I was on it through college until I was 24 when I heard about the possibility of long term damage to fertility. I got off of it and switched to nuvaring. I found out I was pregnant a few months later. I miscarried at 8 weeks and haven't been on any birth control since. That was in 2008. I was told recently that I have PCOS which is unusual because I'm 5'8" and 140 lbs which is atypical for a PCOS diagnosis. I've pretty much resigned myself to never being a mother because, quite frankly, adoption would be nice, but due to cost and an inability to properly care for those children housed by the state due to the emotional, physical, and or mental state of many of them I cannot responsibly consider it. I also don't have the money for fertility treatments or private adoption.

ur maybe YOU, who is dissing Distruction for having an opinion and envoking her right to free speak, oughta get of her ass and have some respect that people have a right to an opinion. AND, if they werent so stuck up that they absolutely had to have an american child, they could get one from china in a heartbeat! get a life!

I am 20 years old currently. I used the depo provera ONE TIME ONLY at the age of 15. It has now been 5 years since I've had any menstrual cycle at all. I've been to 4 different doctors, and each put me on a progesterone cycle. Each time there were absolutely no results. I lost 15 pounds and have not gained a single pound in 5 years. I maintain a weight that is about 100 pounds at all times, and that is the only noticeable side effect besides my migraine headaches, and the pain I have issuing from my lower back a good majority of the time. No cramps. No spotting. Nothing. Pretty positive even if I wanted to I could not conceive . There is no other possible way this could have happened, and I really truly believe the Depo Provera shot is to blame for all the above stated issues.
