does depo provera cause long term infertility issues?

I I was on Depoto for three years and went off of it trying to conceive with my first husband and nothing I went off at 19 I'll be 30 the end of this month and still nothing my first husband has a daughter that he conceived with another woman while we were married and my fiance  now has two daughters and a son and still nothing I haven't had birth control since 19. I was on Metformin for three years it was supposed to help me conceive and restart my mensis that had stopped because of the Depo, I tried Provera it made me bleed like I was dying. I have not tried Clomid, but since stopping the metformin ear,y last year my cycles have become nearly regular 29-32 days apart, but still nothing 

Did anything ever come of this...I too believe this shot is the cause of my infertility but would never know how to prove this. I am now 45 and never biologically had a baby. My family is very fertile and it doesn't make sense and for years I wondered if it was because of this shot

I'm on the depo and I'm scares I've been trying to tell everyone else that I don't want it to hurt mg chances of ever having kid

I have this same problem. I feel we should All come as one to file a law suite against depo Provera. We have to deal with pcos with no cure

I also expierenced this. I was on depo for 5 years and was infertile for 5 years, gained 60 plus pounds, lost my hair very thin and balding in front developed diabetes and insulin resistance. I agree soomething is not riight. There is no history of pcos in my family. What is going on??

I was on the depo injection for 10 yrs I came off in nov 2006 my periods came back in April 2007 and I concieved in the November I have a wonderful 5 yr old .i never went back on depo as I wanted more children sadly I haven't been able to get pregnant.I have had every test done had clomid for 12 months then decided to try IVF.i had 23 mature eggs but not 1 egg fertilised so we tried again using ICSI again 26 eggs all mature not one fertilised.they can find no reason for this and have no experience of this happening in the uk.I blame depo but nobody wants to listen.My husband is the father of my son and we both have no fertility issues we have had a horrific 3 years but have to be thankfull for at least having our son.I believe there is something being covered up and it should be banned

This sounds like my daughter. She has PCOS now, her hormone blood tests came back abnormal and her liver function is high. We are seeing an endocrinologist on Tuesday and have gone on an all natural diet together. She took 3 shots of depo, and it's the devil. Wish I knew the negative side effects prior to now. Not the stupid leaflet one's either. It should be taken off the shelves but the government does not care, it's all about population control. My poor baby is worried that when she gets married she won't have children. She is also taking herbal supplements because I will be damned if this has a long term problem for her.

The shot is a horrible form of BC if you want to have children one day. I was very fertile before I started to take the shot. I only had about two maybe 3 injections. It took 2 years for my cycle to return and I have not gotten pregnant for 10 years after. I have seen a fertility specialist and all my test were great. She said that my diagnosis is unexplained infertility. I know its the shot.

Hi my name is kendra iam 32 years old I got force to get on the depo at a early age by my mother because my cousin got pregnant at 12 I was 14 and got off at 18 my periods stop and everything and been irregular every since I never been pregnant so I believe it was the depo. I want kids so bad.

I took depo for 6 yrs starting in 1994. In 2001 I got married. We tried for 2 yrs to get pregnant. I conceived twins that I miscarried at 12 weeks. After I gained a bunch of weight and hormones were outrageous. 3 yrs later I was diagnosed with pcos. They say it's heredity however the women in all my ancestors are extremely fertile. Last church I had 17 cysts on one ovary and 12 on the other. I ultimately had to do a full hysterectomy without ever getting pregnant again. children of my own.I gained almost 100 lbs that I can't lose and everything else that congress with pcos. I know with all certainty it was caused by depo.

I got my first depo shot in Jan. 2014 my second shot in April 2014 and should have returned for my next shot in July 2014 but I didn't. I started taking Vitex in Aug. 2014 hoping to kick start my periods. I finally got a super short(2-3days), light period Dec. 2014. I have three children already and have never had a problem with fertility. I believe Depo has thrown my entire system off.

There has to be something we can do!!!! I too was very fertile before Depo and afterward was told, I will never have anymore children. It's been 10 years and I have not gotten pregnant even once!!!!

I am currently 32 yrs old and took depot at age 15-19. After my first shot stopped having periods. I had had sex a few times before starting depot. After i started i wasnt sexually active unfourtantly. I probably should have gotten off the shot but bc i wasnt having periods was reason i stayed on. I started my period in the third grade when i was only eight yrs old so that was Ok by me. Now at the age of 32 i have never been pregnant and have been in a few relationships that i felt like a child would come into the picture. The bad thing about that is when the relationships ended they move on and get the the next person pregnant months after our break up. Also have issues with my bones popping loud sometimes. This i feel has hurt (Had to copy n paste sorry) feel as if this has hurt my self-esseem bc i dont think i can get pregnant. I have notice that when someone i know gets pregnant i get the symptoms of being pregnant and have taken test and not pregnant. Then find out someone i know is pregnant. This is taking me through issues bc i dont feel like i can get pregnant...Its a messed up feeling to know that after each of my serious relationships end they are able to get someone else pregnant and me never to be and wants kids....
