Hello. Im a 24 year old female. I was on depo for three years. I was due for the shot in may and did not receive it. I was pregnant in June. Believe me, at least in my case, there was absolutely no fertility issues. I am now 14 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby. Good luck to you all... I wish you the best!

When I was 16, I had my first Ovarian Cyst rupture causing a 3 day hospital stay and surgery. I went on depo shortly after. I was on depo for 11 years. Six months after going off depo, I had surgery for another ovarian cyst. But I have had regular cycles since then. My husband and I were told to wait a year (after my regular cycles started), and if nothing happened then to see a doctor. But to complicate everything, I have thyroid problem, which also makes getting pregnant difficult. If you are having problems conceiving, you might want to have your thyroid tested as well. If your thyroid is out of whack, it can cause irregular periods, tiredness, mood swings, swelling of your feet/ankles, restlessness, and dry/brittle hair. Your thyroid being off can also cause miscarriages. This just something you might want to look into.

Right after my Son's birth, three years ago, I too had the Depo shot. I had been given the shot one time (ONE TIME) and, ever since then my cycle hasn't been the same. Irregular and very short periods. Some months I will have it some months, not at all. It makes me wonder just how safe this shot really is.

I'm about to turn 18 in March. I tried to stop taken the depo shot but my aunt (who I live with) told me that if I stopped and got pregnant she would kick me out. The reason I had to get on the shot was because I was about 3 or 4 months pregnant and had a miscarriage. She told me that if I wanted to contiue to see my boyfriend that I had to get. So I got it and that was back in October of 08. I have gained like 20 pounds. I have tried to explain to her about all the crazy side effects and she just doesn't listen. She said that I would be fine. I just wish someone who has had this shot would explain to her all horrible side effects it has on your body. So hopefullly after I quit taken the shot my periods will be back to normal and eventually I will be able to have kids. Thats what I'm really scared about that when I do go and try to have kids I won't. They shouldn't be aloud to give this shot to people. It can ruin your life. Well I wish the best to all of you who are trying to have babies. Can somebody tell me the best way to let my aunt know that I am not longer going to take it because of the side effects. She doesn't like to believe stuff that she sees on the internet or even me.

I've been on depo since 1994. I just came off it 2 months ago because my husband and I are finally ready for children and I am terrified about fertility issues. I've yet to come across another person who has been on depo as long as I have (15 years). Any information anyone can share with me would be greatly appreciated.

I got on the depo when I was 16/17 years old. I misscarried while on the depo. I continued to take it for a year. I changed to the pill cause I did not like the way I felt when I would not have my periods. Also, I gained a lot of weight. After I changed to the pill, I got my period really heavy on the correct days. I felt so refreshed though. After that I got my period normally for about 5 days at a time. Normally on my last 2 or 3 inactive pills and the first 2 or 3 active pills. I have been on the pill for 2 years. I recently stopped takin them in october. I have been trying to get pregnant since then and no luck! Also, my mother has been on the depo for 14 years. She was on it for about 10 years when she started bleeding really bad. she had to wear tampon and a night time pad. She was changing them every 30 mins to an hour. She became very pale and tired. She went to the emergency room and they gave her birth control pills and sent her home. She came back a couple of days later and they told her if she left she would die. They had to give her a lot of blood and a dnc. she was told it was because she did not have her period for 10 years. But why dont they tell young women or older women the side effects before hand. I urge no one to take the depo. I believe it has messed up my fertility and about killed my mother. NO to Depo!

After my son was born in 2000 my wife went on the depo shot for about two years. During that time she gained alot of weight but that seems to have been the only side effect she had while on the the shot. After she got off the shot she never started another form of birth control. Nine years later she still hasn't gotten pregnant, not that we were trying or not trying, just being careless. For the past several years she has had very painfull periods, so painful she's been in the ER on morphine! We just wonder if the Depo shot caused this.

I first got the depo shot when i was about 16, then i got my last shot when i was 17, so i took it for about a year. my periods stopped as soon as i started it, and after i stopped i didnt start having periods again for a year, then they were so irregular there was no timing them. i would have them for months at a time. then they started coming every two weeks. im turning 20 in march and i just started having regular periods about 3 months ago. I havent really been trying to get pregnant but i havent been not trying eigther, so i should be pregnant. Ive wondered for a long time if the shot had something to do with it but i didnt know if anyone else had the problem. I just afraid that ill never be able to have kids of my own and that scares the hell out of me. i never thought i would have any problems from it i was just young and everyone said that the shot stops your period so i thought that was cool so i took it. now im screwed up for the rest of my life i guess.

I was on depo in 2004 when I was 16 yrs old then I got off soon after and i didnt become pregnant with my first child until 2007 when I was 19 yrs old soon after I gave birth they gave me depo again and I only took it twice after giving birth because throughout me being on depo I bled the whole time until I got off of it in Oct 2007. Now I am 22yrs and I have been trying to get pregnant in the last two years and nothing and I know its not me or my sons father and my ob/gyn says its nothing to dont worry just give it time. But how much time is needed.

I was on depo for 14 years because of endometriosis. My last shot was about 1 year ago and my husband and I have been trying. I am 30 years old and losing hope. When I went off the shot, my periods started back up like they never stopped and were exactly 28 day cycles for the 1st 4 months. Now I only get a period every 60 days or so and have no clue whether I am ovulating or not. I had a lot of hope at the beginning because my cycle returned to normal immediately, but now I am just uncomfortable most of the time and NOT pregnant. I have almost constant pains in my ovary area and I get really sick like I am going to get a period an then nothing happens. My monthly symptoms include sore breasts, cramping, back pain, vomiting, migraines, sensitive sense of smell, and mood swings. What HAS worked for people and how long did it take?

I was on depo for 3 years. I've been off for 4. I've been trying to get pregnant for 3 years. I've never gotten pregnant. I feel like depo is the problem. What else could it be? My husband has 2 beautiful daughters and my Doctor says that I'm healthy and 'it'll happen when it happens' I wish I knew.

I was on the depo shot after having my second child. I was only on the depo for 9 months. My husband and I have been trying to conceive now for about 8 months and still nothing. My periods are pretty regular and I am currently having pregnancy symptoms but have had 2 negative tests. I'm nearly a week late with my period. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm infertile due to the depo. My husband and I never had a problem getting pregnant in the past. After this round of negative pregnancy tests I've become very depressed as I have been wanting to have another baby for the last 19 months...what's going on?

I am 21 years old and I'm married. I have a 3 year old daughter and her father (my husband) wants to have another child. I was on the depo shot since after I had my daughter. I have stopped getting the shot when my daughter turned 1. It has been 2 years and I still haven't been able to get pregnant. I guess my next move is to go to the doctor. I feel that doctors should tell more of the side affects of the shot to patients before they give it. It has caused me hell and my periods haven't been the same since, it just comes and goes all the time sometimes I won't get a period for 3 months straight.
