Hello, folks. My friend has been diagnosed with acoustic neuromas. I know that this is some kind of tumor that is located in inner ear. I would like to know if having this tumor always means that one will go deaf. I would appreciate if someone could answer me this. Thanks.

Hi, there. One of the earliest symptoms of acoustic neuroma is hearing loss. It appears on one side. However, hearing on the contralateral side is preserved. There can also be balance impairment and vertigo. Many patients report tinnitus. Your friend should consult with his ENT specialist about the details. I hope this will help. Good luck! Bye!
