Recently i have experienced very sharp and powerful spams in my stomach region. These occur when my stomach is exposed to cold air. The spasms are violent and come in waves which last about 3-5 seconds. Exposure to even the slightest cold upsets my stomach (the trots). Any ideas why my stomach is so temperature sensitive?

I have no idea WHY this happens, but it happens to me too. It's genetic apparently, my whole family gets those stomach spasms ur talking about when its really cold. i don't even wear midriffs at all because if it gets windy or cold out of nowhere then i know my stomach will be in a lot of pain. i can't drink icee's without getting a stomach ache. so, sorry, no i have no idea where this condition comes from but i just wanted to say i have it too, and more people do than you would think.

I have no idea but mine is just as violent. I have been diagnosed with Diverticulitis and Chronic Panreatitis as well so I am thinking it is a side offect of one of those conditions but it is getting worse and worse daily almost to a disability because I cant go anywhere there is not a bathroom REAL close by. Like the frozen foods sections of a grocery store is a nightmare for me. I feel for you trust me! Your not alone

I have had a similar problem for years, it eventually clears via winds from 'both' ends...lol. I was a competitive runner for many years too and once got caught in a sudden rain storm which though fleeting was very cold. I got soaked of course, but also my stomach that hitherto had been ok, suddenly became bloated with air and very uncomfortable. Worryingly, as I have aged, incidences of it now result in bouts of arrhythmia too. Has anyone any tips how to deal with this?
