I am in a pain management program & had been taking "Methadone" for approximately 7 years. I took med as ordered twice a day. All drug screens were positive. Then urine drug screen began showing negative for Methadone. I was discharged from the program & was called everything but a Child of God. I do not, cannot understand WHY I would have false negative screens. I took the rectangular tabs for ? years then was given the round tabs (I think this is when the false negative screens began).
I finally found & was accepted into a new pain management program. My doctor put me on the same med regimen that was working great for me -- Methadone. The first 3 months my drug screens was + Methadone (was taking rectangular Methadone tabs). Then started getting the round ones & again my screens became negative. In between seeing my Pain Doc one month & before returning the following month I was hospitalized in the middle of the month. I was admitted thru the ER & a drug screen was done while in the ER & was positive for Methadone in blood sample. I took report to my Doc but my urine screen again was negative. Office policy was that they could not do blood screen & had to go by urine. My Doc did believe that I was taking my med & did not discharge me but could no longer order Methadone. She titrated the Methadone down thru one month then began a different pain med.
The new med is so under effective in comparison with the Methadone. I have never had a euphoric feeling while on Methadone. Methadone relieved my pain & I was able to be functional in every day activites.
I have been researching WHY would i have urine false negative but positive in my blood. I do have many health issues especially with my stomach & have Chronic Renal Failure. PLEASE DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN ???
