Hi JustMe
my sex life is ok, as it is now, I commented on it so somebody who considers the surgery knows what to expect.
I am content with my conditions, except incontinence (pun intended). It limits my activity and just feels bad. Pads work well, but it just upsets me. Well, it is still much better than acute retention. Tomorrow I am going hiking first time since the surgery and taking a few extra pads with me. Let's see how it goes.

My experience was very similar to av8rroman's. It's been nearly 2 weeks now. I was catheterized for 4 months before surgery, which occurred 12/27/2013, at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. I'm nearly 60. Libido is lower than 6 months ago. This aspect of my experience is as yet untested.

I had the HoLEP surgery in December of 2012. Everything went great with normal recovery occasional blood in urine until 6 months ago. I stated passing prostate tissue sometimes with blood in the urine or blodd in the urine followed by passing tissue at the next urination. It has happened on & off from then until now. But over the last 2 weeks it is occuring daily. I wentr to see my Urologist (same person that performed the Laser surgery) after the 1st 5 days. He scoped me and said that I was still healing from the surgery I had 18 months earlier. He said my prostate had evidence of inflamation, but otherwise looked normal for me (prior to my surgery my prostate was 5cm by 7cm in size which is 5 times the normal size). He said he had never had anyone with these symptoms this long after surgery. He said there was nothiong further to be done about it other than to let it continue to heal.
Has anyone else that has had this procedure experienced these symptoms this long after surgery?

It is two months from my surgery. Still have IC, but not as bad as a month ago. Doing Kegels and wearing pads. Otherwise everything is normal. I went hiking three weeks ago and snowshoeing last weekend. Surprisingly it wasn't too bad. It doesn't matter if I just make a few steps or doing something hard, IC may or may not happen. It doesn't happen when I am sitting or laying down. I also began having sudden urges which didn't happen before.

Did you have occasional blood in urine all the time? If yes you surgent is probably right and you are having long healing process, which is strange, I never heard about healing taking more than a year.

Just back from a 2 week cruise with long 4-6 hour shore excursions in a van. WOw it was so great not to have to ask the drive to make extra "pit stops" ;-)
Sleepless - sounds like you are doing fine. Keep up the Kegels. You are still in the 4 month "window" for the IC to stop.

Had HoLep with Dr. Lingeman over 1 year ago--never even used one pad-ever. He is excellent--we are thankful. The trip from CA to Indiana was worth it-he is one of the best--friendly, personable, and very competent.

GREAT to hear Sleepless. Are you actually going in the pads or they are there for small leaks, which I hope is the case. We are all different but it sounds like you are on the road to recovery.
