Hello, I need some help with my kid. He is 5 and half years old and it looks like he has Oppositional Defiant disorder, at least that’s what the doctor says. For how long this will last? I mean, we thought that he is simply stubborn and that his nature is very difficult, but it seems that he is actually sick. How can we help him?

Well, he is not sick, but he is going through the phase which some of the children experience while growing up. It usually starts at the age of five and lasts for about a year. In that time, a child tends to defy and negate everything, which might be very frustrating for parents. I guess you should show a lot of patience, do not loose your nerve; this is something that should pass with a little help from a therapy.
