Hi, I am interested to know if there is any connection between heart disease and a.d.d. I feel some fast heart beat since I’ve been taking a.d.d. medications.

Hi, actually when you are taking stimulants they may very well provoke faster heart beat. Aderral, Ritalin and other amphetamine based medicines increase heart rate. but, lately antidepressants are being used as helpful and reasonable alternatives to psychostimulants for some ADHD patients. In fact, antidepressants known as tricyclics, which include desipramine (Norpramin, Pertofrane), or imipramine (Janimine, Tofranil), have been given to children who are not responding to stimulants.
