Hi, I suffer from mittelschmerz syndrome. When the time for my ovulation approaches I start taking aspirin to help me with the pain. On some occasions I also experience a little bit of spotting. But, the last time, I have had heavy bleeding that was very similar to a regular period bleeding. This situation worries me a lot, but I didn't have the time to visit my doctor. Could you tell me what could be the cause of the heavy bleeding during ovulation?

Hi, the occasional spotting and pain during ovulation are symptoms experienced by many women. And if the pain is not very strong and the bleeding is not heavy, them you have nothing to worry about. However, heavy bleeding during ovulation can be a sign of a serious problem. In fact, the bleeding might not be caused by the ovulation process at all and can point to the fact that the ovulation didn't even occur. There are a number of things that could be the cause of bleeding during ovulation. Endometriosis is one of the conditions in which uterine lining grows outside the uterus that could cause heavy bleeding between the regular periods. Also some kind of ovarian cyst could be the root of your problem. And these are just some of the conditions that could be the cause of bleeding. You should talk to your doctor as soon as possible about your heavy bleeding during ovulation period because this situation could lead to even more serious problems and infertility is one of these problems that I am sure you do not want to deal with.
