I still have the headaches and i keep loosing weight and the doctor doesn't say anything. I'm worry about my life, i know that the cyst isn't bad but its affecting me too much. i Cant study no more and i was on my 1st year of college studying Cardiac. Can anyone tell me what i can i do? I'm just 18 and somehow im limited to do certain thing. :'(

Obviously you need some Anatomy classes. You are confusing Pineal with Pituitary gland. Besides, Pineal cysts are not tumors.

Guest from 10.12.07, I am just now seeing your email. I am appalled by your words. Did you actually read my entire story? You mentioned that I had poor knowledge of my condition. I lived with the pineal cyst for years, suffered migraines, and seizures, so obviously I have an accurate knowledge of my own condition. I had written my story for everyone on this page to try to help and reach out to those that were suffering from pineal cysts as well. I wrote the story not even a month after my own brain surgery. You don't need to try to educate me by copying meanings of this condition from the internet. I've read everything you've posted online over and over again. For the record, yes it WAS a cystic tumor. Those are the words from Dr. Shahenian, the doctor who removed it from my head. It was originally just called a cyst, after my doctor removed it from my head and examined it, he said it was a cystic tumor. I hope you can spread love on here rather than negativity....

PS - For anyone else on this page who may be suffering with a pineal cyst & would like to communicate, please let me know. I'll give you my facebook page or email....

Hi. How is your health? Have you taken steps towards surgery since your last message here?

I'm 13 and I have a pineal cyst. I have been doing my research on them for sometime and it appears that pineal cysts have different effects on everyone, some people get migraines, others pineal cysts go unnoticed. I have suffered from frequent migraines and nasea but nothing more. Pineal cysts are liquid-filled pockets found in the pineal gland and can lead to a serious condition called hydrocephalus. Most pineal cysts are too small and too deep in the brain, so neuro surgeons only operate on them if it is vital to one's life. Although there are many people that get symptoms from pineal cysts, much many more people go with having a pineal cyst unnoticed for decades, even their whole lives. If you have an active pineal cyst it may grow in size. Remember if you have a pineal cyst, stress and depression can set off symtoms so try your best to stay unstressed and try to stay undepressed.

Pineal cysts are found incidentally on a large proportion of head imaging.  In the majority of cases, they are a NORMAL VARIANT and require no intervention.  They are an extremely unlikely cause of headaches, even when multiple are present.  When head imaging is done we find all sorts of cysts that are just part of how people are built and do not cause any problems.  Sometimes we will follow a pineal cyst with serial imaging (yearly once, if at all)

My 15 year old daughter has been having daily headaches, occasionally with dizziness, and difficulty sleeping. This became daily January with occasional symptoms since September. A recent MRI showed a pineal cyst and the neurologist said these cysts are nonproblematic. After reading all the posts I believe I should seek a second opinion. We live in Upstate NY and I don't know if I should look for a neurosurgeon and where should I look.

I just saw a 2nd neurologist yesterday because a 2nd MRI showed a cyst on my pineal gland grew to 3mm and DR said MRI was normal both times.  Migraines, haven't had more that 4-5hrs sleep in 10yrs, nausea, vision problems. Dr yesterday told me 5x in a row " that isn't what is causing your headaches".  I'm taking too much medicine. What?  Nambutone 500mg 1x day, Migranal 1spray each nostril 2x day down from 4x day, topamx 75mg/day.  Who does this guy think he is?  They think that after they graduate (27yrs ago) and they close the textbooks they know it all.  Newsflash, there have been new findings and research done since the stone age.  He refused to even listen to me.  I had to hold up my hand and beg him to agree to look into this.  He wrote something down on a piece of paper and got up and opened the door and showed me where to checkout.  I asked him if I could send him medical journal articals stating pineal cysts cause migraines and he mumbled, yeah.  If these cysts are symptomatic they NEED to be checked into.  He didn't even offer to prescribe other pain medication to relieive this headache I've had from 5/24/11 - current (7/6/11).  What am I supposed to do.  The doctors won't even listen to me.  Didn't they take a hiipocratic oathn to first DO NO HARM. What nerve Dr. Death Oops I mean Doon***f.

Hi I just have been diagnosed with cyst which is touching my pineal gland or it comes out of it( doctor said is on it not in it). It is 3mm and Dr. said it is nothing to worry about unles it will start growing. I did CT only because of my often headaches which I have for 3 years now and it came out accidentaly. I am 30 years old mother of two girls,I am Polish but lived in London for 5 years now, can anyone tell me if they know any good Dr in London and what should I think about that. I have read all stories here and I am concern that it may be begining of something serious. My next CT is due in February, should I wait until it will be done? I don't have any medicine for my migrens from doctor, but I deal with them on my own. If you feel that you may have some advise for me I'll be gratefull.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use

Hello. My name is Samantha, I am 14 years old. I have been diagnosed with a pineal cyst, (4.7mm). I was diagnosed 1/31/12. I have been having multiple symptoms that started all of a sudden in the summer of 2011. I have had recurring headaches, constant nausea, blurred vision (but perfect eyesight), pain on my right side next to my rectus abdominis muscles, slightly enlarged lymph nodes, irrititation in my stomach, heartburn very often, sharp pains in my shoulderblades and upper mid spine area, dizziness, fatigue, and maybe gout on my middle toe. I know these symptoms are not all related, but I want everyone to know what I feel so they can tell me I am not alone.

I had my gallbladder removed October of 2011. That did not help with anything. It just made things worse. I have had 2 endoscopies, 1 labroscopy, 1 brain MRI, 1 CT on my abodomen and my pelvis, and a Bravo Probe suctioned on the wall of my esophagus. I have met with 2 gastroenterologists, 1 rheumatoid specialist, a family doctor, and will see a neurosurgeon soon. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia by 2 doctors, the others did not think that was necessary. This all started less than a year ago.

No one has a clue as to what is going on. I am not able to attend school because my health is taking control of my life.

I NEED ANSWERS!!!
