For about the last 2 years I have been getting bad headaches just out of the blue. Tylenol or ibuprofen did nothing. Finally after complaining enough to my doctor and having other issues such as blurred vision, memory loss, etc he sent me for a CT scan. When the report came back it said:

The septal structures of the brain are midline. There is an oval shaped low density lesion seen at the lower aspect of the right basal ganglia measuring 1cm. It could be a prominent perivascular space or possibly a choroidal cyst.

There is a prominent low-density structure seen just about the quadrigminal plate cistern in the region of the pineal gland. It measures 7.2cm x7.3cm in AP and transverse dimension. It may simply reflect a prominent CFS space. A cystic lesion involving the pineal glad cannot be excluded.

Now I am waiting for an appointment for a MRI. 7cmx7cm seems awfully large, how worried should I be if this is a cyst?

My daughter, 15, is having the worsening symptoms with fade outs. She was diagnosed a year ago, but had migraines since 1st grade. She couldn't keep her eyes open yesterday and was in extreme pain. Please update and let me know your doctor or at least your location.

Hi All:

I am a pineal cyst patient and I try to collect some information from the web and put them together in my blog. Please search my blog using the following key words: pineal + cyst + my username + pixnet. You will find my blog where the front page is a cup of coffee. I hope those information will be very helpful for all of you.

A year and a half is when mine was spotted. I have had several migrains that resaulted in a shot 3 to 4 times a month in the er. I was getting migrains 3-4times a week. This came with nausea and actully getting sick, and black outs. I don't feel like my dr. takes me serious, but I'm a single parent and cant live in pain and wondering when i'm gonna black out next.
What does the surgery intell? What is the prep? where do they enter? How long is recovery? and who was your surgeon? I'm 24 with a 3yr old son, I'm all he has. Being told I may never wake up again or go in a coma, is scaring the hell out of me, but than told surgery isn't safe either.

I'm curious to know, what size is your pineal cyst? We just found out that my daughter's is 13mm or 1.3cm. In the past two months she's only been to school 7 or 8 days and she's a Senior. It's ruining her life. Since the meds are working for you there is some hope :)

I am the mother of a 14 year old daughter who was diagnosed just 2 days ago with a pineal cyst, we were told that it wasn't really anthing serious but we needed to follow up asap with a neurosurgeon. My daughter has been having headaches that she can not get rid of After reading previous posts I am scared to death and the more that I read the more I get scared. I wish there was someway to contact some of the individuals to see how they are doing especially the ones that are like your post as young as 10 to see how you are doing!

Hi I have a 10x14mm cyst. Now on a cocktail of medicine and things are much better. No surgery done. No dizziness. Meds include: inderal (cardio drug), carbinib (glaucome drug - although I have no glaucoma), relmus (muscle relaxant), primperan (stomach drug), omeprazol (gastrointestinal protector). It works!

Hi, I've been diagnosed with this too. The only problem it could prevent, as far as I know is Parinaud Sydrome... which is:
a loss of vertical gaze
nystagmus on attempted convergence
pseudo-Argyll-Robertson pupils:
large pupils with sluggish reaction to light
and problems with looking up

i can relate to your fear. my 5 yr old was diagnosed with a 1 cm pineal cyst about 8 months ago. every time she had dizziness or said her head hurt or she said she was nauseated it just ruined my day because i worried so much. but here we are 8 months later and shes just fine. from what ive found out talking to people since then, these cysts can come and go..and even disappear :) dont freak out. it will get easier as time goes on..and its not a death sentence. try talking with dr hudgens at akron childrens hospital in akron ohio. he is very familar with these cysts..and dont forget to pray:)

Hi, I am a 33 year old woman that was diagnosed a few months ago. I have had extreme fatigue and sleepiness for about 10 years now, so my nuerologist had me do an MRI where they found the cyst. First they said it was a tumor, now they're saying it appears to be a cluster of cysts with some solid areas. Its currently 19mm. The most frustrating thing is that the neurologist, neurosurgeon, and endocrinoligist I've seen all say that the cyst doesn't explain my fatigue. Does anyone else have this problem, and has it been alleviated by having surgery? Has anyone tried any other types of treatments, or ever had one of these things actually shrink instead of grow? The doctors say they don't want to do surgery as long as the cyst isn't growing, but my quality of life is pretty horrible right now and I'm getting desperate to do something about this. Thanks!
