Daily requirement for is 4,700 mg. To build my level up (it is 2.9 and range is 4.0 to ?) the Dr. is giving me 60 Meq per day. How does this equate to the 4,700 mg requirement? How much other potassium do I need to get from other sources - food?

For potassium, the conversion for mg to Meq is 38.29 (divide mg by 38.29 to get Meq or multiply Meq by 38.29 to get mg). It looks like the doctor is prescribing you roughly 2300 mg potassium per day. This, along with your normal intake of potassium, will probably bring you back up to whatever the normal level should be.
Tip: bananas are high in potassium. Eat a couple or three a day. You won't turn into a monkey and besides, they taste great!
