how long before im protected

i use to be a sexual health peer advisor, man my teacher would probably kill me. I belive the "standard" advice (you may want to double check). once you resume taking pills..must use back up meathod (ie condom ) for at least 7 days (consecutive pill -hormone- days---placebos not count).
