6 days post op. Moderate to strong ache in upper scrotum and lower abdomen. Feels like recovery from being kicked in balls. Uncomfortable trying to sleep still but haven't taken anything other than Ibuprofin and was able to get to sleep. Haven't used jock strap but will go buy one today to see if it helps. Still big bruise around incision but no swelling. Also bruise at base right side of penis. Likely because the right side was very painful during procedure. Felt like he was squeezing my testicle.

Yes. After a couple of days. I am currently one month and a couple of days post opp, and now I only have VERY MINOR discomfort where the doctor severed my tubes. and my stiches have dissolved and is in the final stages of healing. Everything is functioning as normal (if you catch my drift).

Sounds like your right on track bro! My right side bruised out more than the left too. Just take it easy, and you don't need a jock strap, just underwear that snugly supports your boys.

Thank the heavens I found this thread. I am day 36 and being going out of mind with worry. Looking on the web found a post vasectomy forum with some right horror stories which has sent my anxiety levels through the roof. I have slight ache in left mainly 1 or 2 pain, but can knock me sick, The surgeon says I have scar tissue pushing on nerve so am on antibiotics , but they have not helped. The NHS says back to work in 3 days and after seeing the other site I have convinced myself I am due a lifetime of misery. It's good to see others take longer than the couple of days and has greatly improved my mindset.

I'm on day 3 of my recovery. I'm out of pain meds and this has been the worst day. Lying down is when I feel the best. Standing and walking isn't too bad. Sitting and leaning forward is when I notice the most pain. Most of the pain is actually in the pelvic region. I'm going to call in sick tomorrow because of it. My biggest mistake thus far has been wearing boxers. I need tighty whities!! I'll be making a call to the dr. tomorrow.

Glad to hear I'm not alone. About 4 weeks post op here and they are still most sensitive than before and getting aroused (not nessessarily ejaculating) makes them hurt pretty bad. Sure hope it gets better soon

I am on day 3 of recovery. So here's my experience. Checked in, got my vitals taken, and then disobedience and laid down on a table. The docs assistant slathered my entire groin area with ice cold iodine paste while a trainee watched. Trust me ladies, the assistant could be a super model and there will be no enjoyment here. The iodine paste is so cold it could induce shock. And they also have the scalpel and stuff set up right next to you as a reminder of what's about to happen to your testicles. The procedure was the single incision. The shot stung like most shots and then the doc went to work. There was slight discomfort in my stomach but that was all. After about 30 minutes I got up and was driven home. I misunderstood the assistants instructions (most likely from the sedative I took beforehand, made me feel drunk) she said I needed 16 ejaculations and about 4 weeks before coming back to give a sample to test sperm count. Sooo I went straight home and had sex and got my first of 16 out of the way. The doc called the next day to see how I was feeling. On day two I had no more bleeding, no bruising or swelling, and only mild discomfort. I asked him about having sex already and he got upset and said "didn't you read the instructions!?" Of course I didn't read the instructions, I'm a guy. So he said NO SEX FOR A WEEK! So now to day 3, I am feeling it a little more now. I'm a little tender and where my vas deferens were cut is sore. My stomach has felt like I was kicked in the groin since I got the surgery but very mild and slightly uncomfortable. I have been doing everything I normally would just being careful not to lift too much and I sit down very slowly. I did open two jars for my wife and that was the worst pain so far. Immediately afterwards there was a sharp pain but that went away. I am 37 and am no stranger to testicular pain. I have cysts on my testicles and epididimitis so my balls have sucked for years and they could have just done me the favor of chopping them off. But so far no horror story to tell. There is just the stomach discomfort and every so often a twinge of pain. The soreness comes and goes. I'm just looking forward to the "all clear" so my wife and I don't have worry anymore and can be as irresponsible in bed as we want!

Just had the procedure done (yesterday) Thursday around noon. I had pain for the first 24 hours following the surgery, I could definitely feel pain when getting up or sitting back down in chairs. One word of advice, don't forget to shave your junk!!! Nurse had to dry shave me on the spot... ouch! Half of my pain is from the shave.

Ha! this is great advice. I am now day 7 and am experiencing quite a lot of pain in the scrotum area after the initial abdomen area on my right side. Thought it was all over day 5, but day 6 and 7 have been worst for pain.
I messed up too concerning rest and relaxation in first few days. Work and life got in the way and likely over did it. I was under the impression it was a simple procedure which it is, but recovery is no laughing matter. Buyer beware.

Just wanted to add my story for those freaking out reading some of the horror stories on the internet. I'm mid 30s male and had the snip at a clinic specialising in this (was the doctors 14th op that day). I'm three weeks from op and the worst bit was the actual op itself, but you can handle anything for 15-20 mins! I iced for 3 hours afterwards and took ibeprefron for 7 days afterwards on docs orders. Only had small periods of pain - mostly just a dull ache that's gone now. Also freaked out about hearing about blood in semen first few times but haven't had any. Feel for those with complications but wanted to hopefully put some minds at ease, as I searched the comments below for some good news stories
