I'm a 38 year old healthy male and I have just had a vasectomy.
I generally have a high pain threshhold generally not having injections when having fillings at the dentist and I felt the 2 local anesthetics which lasted few seconds. You feel the vas clamping under local which is wierd.
I been having a cramping sensation which feels a bit like a minor hernia in the stomach and a infection along the groin area and a headache in the testicle area like when you eat a ice cream fast for a lengthy period of time. When having sex it felt very sensitive along the groin and vas. It has been 8 days and I still feel awkward however my 6 year old son stepping on my left testicle was not beneficial on the 3rd day.
Every person is likely to have a different experience, however be warned it was not a walk in the park!
I tried going to work on the 4th day after the op and it was a silly option which I delayed up until today. Not everyone sails through this simple procedure. I have an infected left vas and currently have 2 weeks of antibiotics treatment. So don't expect miracles however you may be lucky. I currently feel like my right testicle is a free agent and will most likely seek professional opinion on this? I hope this blurb helps others, Merry Xmas...

By now I'm hoping your fully recovered! As long as the boy has learned not to use your knackers as a bouncy room. :-D
I too had a vasectomy back in 1999 or 2000. It was an in office procedure. The prep I went through - shaving - wasn't even necessary as the doc looked at me and said "Great job! But why'd you shave?" and I said "Because the paper the nurse gave me told me to." Apparently I was given an old info sheet. Putting a razor on my nuts wasn't exactly the funnest, most enjoyable pastime either.
The two needles the doc stuck in my testicles were perhaps the two most painful needles ever. EVER. But soon my sack was frozen and the doc worked his magic. On the way home I bought some frozen pees and stayed in bed for quite some time. The bruising was pretty bad for at least a week and it was hard to get around. Sex didn't happen for quite awhile I seem to remember.
I hear a lot of guys saying "I'll never do that. No way! Not going to happen" etc. I just can't understand why. It's no big deal at all. In fact I hear the procedure is even more streamlined and less painful then it was when I had it done.
Guys are big babies. Shut your mouths, get the V, and quit being m****s. It's fine. Start by getting your back waxed and grow a pair from there. Seriously.... Your wife gave birth. The least you could do is have a simple operation.
There is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in performance afterwards. NONE. Nothing is different, nothing feels different. So unless you want another mouth or two to feed by accident, do it.
Just my two cents.
