It's now been 5 weeks today since my vasectomy. I posted earlier with updates (LW) and things were looking up on the first post. Then the pain continued and my second post indicated it was all getting better. I think I have now reached a plateau of some kind. I have severe pain now every other day with mild aching in the day between. I pretty much always have a kicked in the balls feeling but only on one side, then it switches to the other side. It's pretty much the feeling I had when the surgeon clamped the vas and I was screaming. I'm continuing to take Ibuprofen each day hoping it will do something. I'm starting back at Kung Fu this weekend, I just don't see the point in waiting any longer, maybe it will improve with time. I'm starting back my weight training next week too. At some point you just have to get on with your life I suppose. One thing I've noticed though is that the Doctor's I've seen tend to just dismiss me and think that time will heel everything (I hope they're right) even to the point of telling me not to come back for 2 weeks. I did that and finally got to see my own GP (away on holiday) when I went back who straight away wrote to the surgeon to tell him something is not right. I'm now waiting to see him one week later. My GP said he should call you and see you as an emergency considering the pain I was in after his assistant poked and prodded me. Who knows when he'll get in touch. I have to say that If I had the chance again I would have walked away had I known this would happen. LW

I am 3 days out from my procedure. The doctor said that the part that would hurt the most was the needle for the anesthesia, and that didn't really hurt so I thought I was in the clear! But like some others mentioned I did have a kicked-in-the-balls feeling when he cut the first vas. When he saw I was in pain he gave me some more painkiller and that did the trick. It hurt on the other side too, but not as bad.It wasn't a bad experience at all. From the time I entered the docs office until I put my pants back on was under an hour. I saw a urologist who specializes in these, and he had also had a vasectomy so he could connect with the experience.I went without any drugs to knock me out, drove myself home on Monday and back to work Tuesday morning! To be discreet at work, I kept a McDonalds cup with ice between my legs that first day. I have been "uncomfortable" the past few days, but what hurts the most now is the stich rubbing my skin, and also the hair growing back is so itchy! I think a lot of those who have problems are the ones who don't take it easy for a few days, and the ones who have intense pain during the procedure. I think if you're not numbed up effectively, you develop muscle memory down there and that makes you feel the chronic pain. Just my thoughts, but make sure you tell your doctor not sto short you on the numbing drugs!

I had mine on Friday morning. Two incisions. I have had no need for pain meds. I rested Friday and today but feel like i can get about without issue now. I do still feel a little pulling sensation in my lower ab but the doc said that is to be expected.
I will be back in Work monday but I plan on continuing with ice packs in the evenings even though i have very little swelling. If everything keeps on track as it has so far I will be back to full form by the end of the week

i had mine done (no scapel) 12 days ago. on my first and 2nd day werent bad at all ; pain killer no needed. after that everyday i felt dull aches here and there .
the most pain that i got is that when my balls shrink up i had this poking or jabbing feeling. i'm not sure if it from the hair growing back or what. but it is very uncomfortable. any of you experiening this?
to day my 12 days post op, i feel much better. though, still feel the jabbing when they shrink and dull aches but it seems to be lessen everyday that goes by.
i truely hope that everything will get back to nowmal soon.
just updating my story, so it has been 17 days post op. i still have dull aches time to time almost not noticeable. the hair growing is the worst.
i'd recommend men who wants to do this not to shave the whole thing like i did, just shave the spot under the base of your penis. hair growing back is the worst discomfort. i have had sex 2 times since the operation, both times were great no discomfort that i noticed. although, my balls seems to tug or shrunk up a lot, not sure if this normal. other than that, i am feeling great.
so it's been 5 weeks. i feel 95% normal, still tender to touch but the dull aches are almost not noticeable. getting more hope that i'll be back to 100% physically before the operation.

I just had a vasectomy today and it wasn't bad at all. Worst part was when the doctor couldn't find a good vein to inject me with Valium to relax me, so both my arms felt like pincushions. When he finally found a good vein and injected the Valium it was a bit painful and burned like heck. But once the Valium kicked in everything was good. I didn't really notice him injecting a local into my scrotum, and only felt a bit of tugging here & there when he was doing the procedure. Tonight, several hours later, I'm taking an occasional Lortab for the pain and swapping out bags of frozen peas between my crotch and the freezer. So far so good.

6 weeks after the operation, feeling about 98% normal. i still feel sore sometime when prsessured. i played tennis for the first time after 6 weeks of waiting, no pain afterward. what a relief!

I was light headed for the first few weeks, as it just felt WEIRD. After a while, it kinda went to the wayside (out of sight, out of mind). I've hit my 12th ejaculation as well, so I'm curious to see what my test next week will show. No pain in that area.
So yeah, it's sore like it was kicked/punched/squeezed recently, but it's a dull ache and just tender. Doctor's office says it can take up to a few months, depending on how your body heals. I'm sure that in another 4 weeks I'll be better, as the pain maybe decreases every few points every day.
Tips: Wear something all the time to keep the boys "high and tight" such as briefs or a jockstrap (cup might help, too). Even when sleeping. Your testes heal best when they're not moving and they're close to the body. Just be gentle, and every so often kinda massage them to keep blood flowing (helps healing process).
Hope this helps.

Hey all,
I am two months post op and still have a tiny bit of pain depending on how the boys contact things, etc. Anyone else have this problem?

Tomorrow I'll be 3 weeks healed, and I have to say I feel great. No soreness or tenderness in my scrotum at all since my last post. My incision is still there but slowly healing up. It's scabbed over and growing smaller. Can't wait for it to be completely healed. I also can't wait to send a sample in to be tested, but I know I just need to be patient.
I never did have much bruising, maybe a spot on the underside of my penis near the scrotum and one spot on the scrotum itself, but it disappeared quickly. I did have some swelling of the scrotum the first week or two, but that's all gone now too. I'm back to work and doing heavy lifting again and haven't had any discomfort.

Hello, I just had a had vasectomy a weak ago. The thing went good and wasn't as bad I thought it would be. The scare was all in my head. Took about twenty minutes and the staff was very professional. I'm 37 and have four children. Yes four. Number 4 was a heat of the moment baby.
After witnessing her give birth again. We decided that one of us had to do something. After looking into complications, side effects ,time(s) for proceedure, recovery, ...The whole thing like your doing now. So I decided to man-up. I have bruised fruit and some lower belly pain. The pain is controlled with a script from my Dr. The worse part is no sex for Two weeks. Two weeks? Following Dr.'s orders but we are counting down the days. Wear the jockstrap. It helps. It's only for a week. A friend at church told me he was playing golf the next day. Hope this information helps. Just so you know, number four: healthy baby boy. 8 pounds 9oz. Our biggest. So I manned-up.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to supply a final update on my condition and recovery.
Its been about 3 months now since my Vasectomy and all in all things have been OK for a while now. I do get pain from time to time, usually a day or so after intense physical activity but it honestly doesn't bother me and hardly registers, I might have even already had it pre-vasectomy but more likely to notice it now. I returned to full contact Kung Fu with no problems.
My sex life is as good as ever, I do reach climax more easily now which to be honest is a blessing as it used to be quite frustrating as I could go forever. I seem to be more sensitive now too, I don't know any medical reason that would cause this and I have a degree in biology so I'm putting it down to some kind of psychological change.
I have a definite decrease in fluid, I don't really notice this and tbh who cares. It's enough to keep me feeling like a man and I think this may be after successive ejaculations less than 1 day apart, otherwise not too different.
A side effect I honestly did not see coming was sadness associated with the loss of my inability to father another child. Don't get me wrong I'm happy I have had it done and am happy with my two children. However a couple of weeks ago I was walking in the city when I saw a rather beautiful pregnant lady walk past. I always found my wife to be very attractive when she was pregnant, not in a sexual way but more of a glowing happy way. Anyhow a great sense of sadness came across me when it dawned on me that I no longer have that ability. It was not a detailed thought just a sense of it really. It seems to happen now whenever I am around pregnant women. I was and am pretty shocked that I feel this way despite the fact I don't want more children.
Anyway all that aside and the prior problems I'm 100% happy with my decision. I think it needs to be communicated a little more regarding the potential for complications during recovery and not treat it as a quick snip and it's all fine. There are the psychological aspects too to think about should you be considering this. I don't quite see how one can suffer from true depression or very negative mental issues from the procedure as some say but I can without a doubt relate to anyone feeling not quite up to par after a vasectomy both physically and mentally.

Hi Guys.
I am happy to report that I did it 3 weeks ago. It was not bad as imagined. Worst part was the anesthesia going in. Mine was the 2 incision. I manned up after 4 chn in as many years.
Recommendations: 1. Give yourself adequate time to recover eg a week.
2. Wear some briefs.
3. I experienced the worst pain when I decided to air out my jewels.
4. Had sex day 3 and almost opened up left side. Thankfully both are sealed and healing. Back to normal sex and work life.
