Had mine on Saturday.  Have to say that the procedure wasok-ish, just a bit weird.  However, its now Tuesday, the base of my old fella and my sack are black with bruising and it feels as though I have been freshly kicked in the nuts every 5 minutes.  Gives me stomach ache too.  Things us guys do for a promise eh.

Had my done on Tuesday at noon. the pain killer shots hurt like hell and did not work for me. I just about came off the table several times while he was pulling on the cords. I could feel everything he was doing, I could even feel the pain when he stiched me back up. I hobbled on home where I kept them iced down the rest of the afternoon. Day 2 was iceing them down again and in consant pain ,swelled up. Day three no release on pain, black and blue all over and still swelled up like a softball, hurts to have the fan blow on them!!!!.Day 4 out of anitbotics, still hurting and laying in bed. Day 5 still in bed but started taking some differant antibotics I had and asprin and by that evening I can see the swelling starting to go down. Day 6 the swelling has not gone completly down and I am still in pain, hurts to walk , or even move in bed but today was the first day I could put my legs together without a large pillow in between them. I don't know if I am just differant or I got a doctor from hell but if I had it to do over again I would not have gone thought this much pain,. most guys told me lay up for 2 to 3 days and take it easy and that is sound advice, I would not plan anything for at least a week after surgery just to be safe. I just hope my 3 day trip to Asia on Tuesday doesn't kill me. Also I don't know either, my age could have some effect on getting over it, I am 53 years old and still very sexually active with younger ladies and do not want any more children. Had it not been for this I would have not had the surgery!

I am five hours out from having my procedure.  It was quick and very efficient, with a single incision.  The Dr. did need to add another shot to the second side due to minor discomfort.  I have been icing since I got home.  So far, I'm only experiencing a little abdomen pain.  When I remove the ice pack, it feels like a pinching at the surgical site, but overall, so far, so good!

Had the op on friday afternoon, local never worked on one side so tad sore while doing it but was soon fixed with another needle. Needles hurt for a second or two but nothing much to talk about.

Actual OP was fine, yep can feel prodding and pulling but on the whole was fine.

Girlfriend picked me up and just chilled over the weekend, went shopping on the Sunday and went back to the car to sit down as it was hurting a little. Think some summed it up, its a continuous dull ache. Did plan on going in to work on Monday but decided to stay off for a few days, going to go in on thursday i think as its now tuesday.

Hardest part is to get comfortable in bed, little bit awkward as no jock strap on of a night - thus you end up being tired alot.

Summary :

OP is nothing really

Yes there is some pain and discomfort for a good few days after the op.

Take it easy for 2 -3 days after OP

Try and avoid anything full on for 7 days after OP - yep i know i am not at that point yet but thats i am planning on doing.

Whoever said above that this operation is nothing and that people in pain are wussies is just plain nuts.  I too had been under the impression that this was no big deal quick in and out kind of operation.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  No pain meds prior to the injections, which hurt more than anything i've ever experienced before (and I've had an axe lodged in my hand so i've been in pain before).  First side was ok but second side was very painful.  I too felt things like guitar strings being cut.  Not pleasant.  Recovery for first 2 or 3 days was ok but pretty painful.  The 4th and 5th day are now very painful.  I'm swollen up like a softball and sitting at work is very unpleasant, but standing is worse.  I've been given Tylenol 3s and they're not putting much of a dent in the pain and just leaving me drowsy, but too late to switch to Advil.  I didn't stay off my feet for 2 days like other posters here and that might have had something to do with it, but i wasn't active either.  Bottom line I'm 5 days in and still feel like i've been kicked in the nuts.  This sucks.

Had mine today , tbh it was only the initial injection for the local anaesthetic that hurt , straight in the sack and tubes
Although as he started the initial incisions (both sides) I could feel the sharpness of the scalpel (not the dull sensation he said I should expect)
So I promptly Stopped him and he gave me the old needle again .
The right side was first , did'nt really feel much , but the left was far more sensitive , the nurses said it was common to feel the second side more (must be psychological ? )
Anyway , 20 mins after they let me go , but this is typical of me and totally unintentional as I was in growing discomfort as the feeling came back , I said to the nurse "would it be ok if I shot off" well her face was a picture and my mate was rolling with laughter all the way to the car , I'm pretty sure he came for the comedy value , so much as to give me a lift and offer support.
Anyway I'm home now ( sporting underpants like the ones I used to wear when I was five years old ) , had some painkillers but it is really sore .
Gonna have me tea , and get on mw3 for a while , then orange aero and brandy sounds like a plan ....
Thanks for the input , it made me laugh reading some of your previous posts guys , and hopefully this thread will offer some comfort and advice to people reading like I was yesterday .
I'll update in a day or so regarding recovery / pain etc.

It took me 6 weeks before I could get back into my wranglers even today it still hurts to wear them after four months after the operation. I am back to haveing sex on a regular basis but the nuts are still very tender and a woman always has to be careful down there or I have a lot of discomfort or slight pain. But at least the dam thing still functions like it always did,it was starting to worry me some there but seems to be ok. I have noticed that my nuts and sack have gotten larger and that causes some galding on my legs and crotch went it is hot outside.

well I'm now 2 days post op - pain has been gradually getting worse since yesterday and more bruising is coming out.
My tubes are very inflamed / large and it feels like I have 2 extra balls at the moment.
Taking painkillers every 4 hours and been laid up since I had it done.
As other's have stated "do not underestimate this procedure - It is not a walk in the park"
Take at least 5 days away from work and do as little as possible , plenty of tv . films etc .
I'll be back again with another update .

Now 4 days post-op and not much change , don't know how some of you guys say your fine after a few days and back in work ?
The only thing I can think is my procedure was the double incision ( either side of sack )  alot of people get the single incision central , which is alot easier to recover from allegedly ? ..........
So to sum up - My balls are purple and my tubes are that swollen it feels like I have 4 testicles !!!!!   not happy.

Dude my doctor told me not to take a bath or to get my sack wet very long when showering due to what he thought might get infected but after about 3 or 4 days of intense pain I said the Hell with that, and had a buddy go get me some Epson’s salt and I started taking hot sit baths and this seems to help more than anything I had tried before. The salt seems to take the swelling down some and helping with the bruising , Note that my nuts and sack were swelled up like a softball and solid black even into my legs. I believe that I must have had a lot of internal bleeding inside my nut sack and this was what was causing most of my pain. After taking the sit baths with the Epson’s salt the color and swelling started changing. I had mine done in the 3rd week of July, here it is in mid-November and It still hurts me to wear my wranglers blue jeans, so now I am almost always wearing dress slacks or something very loose. Wish you luck, I know the pain.

Got snipped end of February & it took at least a full 3 months until everything felt before the snip. A FULL 3 MONTHS, NOT DAYS!!! Don't bother going back to the Urologist unless you want antibiotics for the infection you don't have, or at least in my case. Never got any swelling, no brusing, just that "pulling" feeling on my nut. One side was pretty good after 10 days and the other, three months. I can run/sprint, jump/hop & all that good stuff now. My only gripe is now it hurts to have sex at times, but only for a few or several seconds here & there, never more than 15 or 20 seconds. I went back for that & guess what, yup, got prescribed more antiboiotics, "could be left over from the vasectomy." Really from back in February. Even I know that's not the case. Hang in there. Some guys take 3 hours/ 3 days/ and 3 months. Yeah, I know a guy who was fine right after it, wish it was me.

I don't remember how long now (35 years after) but it felt strange when I came because the stuff had nowhere to go and it couldn't get out of the tubes. Didn't really hurt but it wasn't a nice feeling either.

Now 6 days post-op , and I'm afraid to say it's not good news , still suffering from the constant pain , and my tubes are still really swollen on both sides  :-(
I got in contact with the doctor's and explained my symptoms and they asked me to attend another of their mobile clinics this afternoon.
To put it into perspective , here in the uk the national health service setup - mobile clinical assesment and treatment units.
These are basically 4 truck/wagon trailers that expand and interlink to become a reception area and treatment rooms.
They move from town or city on a monthly basis which relieves the pressure on the hospitals in the areas.
Anyway I digress , sorry  -  I got  to the clinic and was seen by another consultant surgeon who asked where the pain was and then proceeded to squeeze the lump on my left tube (after I warned him to be gentle) :'(
I was in tears it was that painful , he say's it is a condition that's pretty rare and it's called "sperm granuloma"
A leakage of sperm at the site where the tubes were cut , but from my research on the net this should not be uncomfortable ,
however I strongly disagree - mine sure as hell is .
The doctor prescribed me with a week's course of antibiotics and strong painkiller's , I am due to re-attend the clinic for a check up in seven days .
So to sum up again - day 6 post op and I'm in more pain than ever , maybe it's just me being unlucky but I'm a little pissed at not having much information prior to the surgery involving complications .
My mrs has been having a go at me the last few days also , because I have not been able to help out much if any around the home and with the kids , she feels bad now though , because she was there whilst I lay in the doctor's room and cried this afternoon .
And to John and anyone else who posts, thanks for the replies - It's good to know someone else understands.
I''ll keep this thread updated .
