No it has acetamenaphen/tylenol in it, which can lead to toxicity. I would change meds/pain, without these, and retest my liver functions/enzymes in 3 month's if you are in a chronic pain situation.

hydro's if abused can and will ruin our liver/kidneys in as little as 9 weeks. advertised on label only should be taken as needed. In some cases abuse led to holes in each organ and earl death for young abusers.

I have been taking tramadol for headaches with a lot of success, but my liver enzymes were elevated slightly and I was told by someone claiming to be a medical professional that I should NEVER take tramadol again or I might suffer liver failure. Is this true? I only take it a few times a month - however I do have some compromised liver functioning from long term medication therapy. Still, my liver enzymes are generally normal, and I did just leave Afghanistan a few months ago (when the elevation was first noted). Please advise. Have an awful headache today and am nervous about taking the tramadol -

Hi Guest my names Dianne ..I'm here to talk you regarding your post.
Can i first ask what medication you are taking ? The reason i ask is that you said you suffer from chronic back pain, well I myself have been enduring scolliosis and I'm at a point now where I'm needing Pain relief that won't damage my liver more than i have over the years.
I am not up todate with options so if you could possibly give me the name so I can talk to a doctor about it...I was given celebrex which I researched isn't good

"60-80mg of oxycodone (Norco 10/325)"

Norco does not contain oxycodone, FYI.

Hydrocodone does not have aspirin or ibuprofen in it. It usually has acetaminophen in it, which is bad for the liver. Talk to your doctor about your concerns, there are alternatives that do not contain acetaminophen.

The liver is an amazing organ, but if you're taking 8,000-10,000 mg of acetaminophen for extended periods of time you're begging for serious liver trouble. I began by writing that the liver is an amazing organ and it certainly is. The liver has the capability of repairing itself if you give it a chance. In other words stop the massive amounts of acetaminophen and allow your liver to attempt to heal itself. If you've taken 8,000-10,000 mg for too long it may be too late and you'll be looking at an attempt to get on a donor list and waiting for up to a year, or more. Talk with your Doctor immediately and he/she will order a liver panel (blood test). You may get lucky, but even if your panels are OK stay away from acetaminophen. If you don't it will get you eventually. As someone mentioned in another post there are several other pain meds available that contain no acetaminophen. Taking Norco 10/325 daily you would have to take approximately 25 tabs daily to reach just over 8,000 mg of acetaminophen. That tells me that you are well beyond taking Norco just for pain, you are striving to maintain the feeling of euphoria associated with hydrocodone. After some time the feeling of euphoria lessens so you take more tabs. Eventually you are taking two dozen tabs, or more, daily just to feel "normal" and keep the initial symptoms of withdrawal at bay. This is blunt and to the point. I am a psychological counselor specializing in substance abuse and I've heard variations of the same tale hundreds of times. Speak with your Doctor about weaning you off this drug and speak with him/her about alternative meds.

I have been taking 7.5 for 20 years for pain due to an injury...5 of my 6 liver test showed fine the 6 thst showed cirrhosis (I am not a drinker) this was found after Ascites showed up. not 100% sure what caused it but this is what we are leaning toward.

I have been taking .5-500 for yrs, then the dr put it down to .5-325 Narcos. He says to take 6/day. I have hep C and my enzymes are always elevated. Why doesn't he give me the 7.5mg or 10mg so I don't have to take so many?
