IS there possible anybody who could explain what does this Hyrdrochloride means in so many drugs! There is for example diphenoxylate hydrochloride, Phentermine hydrochloride, Fluoxetine hydrochloride, ketamine hydrochloride and they are all like different drugs even though all have this one compound. For example, Phentermine hydrochloride is used as apetite suppressant, Fluoxetine hydrochloride against depression, ketamine is a tranquilizer. I suppose that these other compounds determine the drug’s purpose but what is hydrochloride then?

Good question! I also had no idea. I have just looked it up in the encyclopedia and learned that hydrochlorides are salts resulting from the reaction of hydrochloric acid with an organic base (mostly amine). Sorry I can’t help you more but maybe somebody else will!
