While tubal ligation is a highly effective form of permanent birth control, there is still a small chance of pregnancy occurring. In rare cases, the fallopian tubes can heal or grow back together, which may allow an egg to be fertilized by sperm. Another possibility is that the Hcg test is a false positive. Hcg is a hormone that is produced during pregnancy, but it can also be present in the body for other reasons, such as certain medications or medical conditions. If you have had a positive Hcg test, it is important to follow up with your healthcare provider for further testing and evaluation. A blood test and ultrasound can help confirm whether or not you are pregnant and determine the location of the pregnancy, which is important for determining the best course of action.
