i know this is a bit late now but i guess people will be looking for answers.but my other half has a broken jaw and the easiest way to sleep for her was to sit up.. very painful as she isn't allowed strong painkillers and allergic to morphine, tramadol and all the others. so extremely painful for her. she still has it now but is sleeping better since sitting up so i hope anyone who is looking for help on here reads this and sees. trust me if you lay down the swelling will grow bigger.. and also she had jaw correction surgery for a over bite not a accidentally broken jaw xx

I am currently recovering from a double fracture of the Mandible and have also been looking for advice on how to sleep or look for specialist pillows but there does not seem to be much information available. I use a memory foam pillow which is ergonomic so the higher part of the pillow supports the neck and puts less pressure on the jaw. I was taking pain killers for first week but the pain does ease and has become manageable in my case. I do find getting to sleep difficult so have been taking herbal Nytol to assist in that respect .
