I'm 29 and I have had hypertension and been on meds since I was 19. My bp is 144/96, and that is low for me lately. Up until a year ago I never had a problem with it and other than monthly migraines I have not worried too much.

Around last Easter I started getting tingling in my fingers and toes, then my left arm and the top of my head would suddenly feel like they had been injected with Novocaine. I would get very tired and for the rest of the week have no energy to do anything. Every time I move my head I get dizzy and feel like a migraine is coming on. If I look down or slightly bend over I feel like I'm going to pass out so I lay or sit and it just gets worse.

My family on both sides has a history of hypertension, stroke, and heart attacks. Many family members have died of heart attacks and strokes before they were 35. My heart stopped a couple of years ago due to low potassium. Should I see a specialist or are my current symptoms not related to my history?

Hi babesh, I don't think it would hurt to visit a specialist because it sounds like your numbness could be related to hypertension but it could be something else. Just to make sure it's not something else and to rule that out, I think that's why you'd want to see a specialist. Do you have any other symptoms? Let me know!
