I received a cortisone shot for a herniated disc June 16th. Before the shot I had not had a period in about 6 months, which was odd but my doctor said everything seemed fine. Two days after I got the shot I started bleeding heavy. It has been over a month and it has not lightened up. I am cramping beyond belief.and exhausted. At this point it doesn't seem like it will end. Definitely did not know this could be a side effect of a shot to relieve back pain.

Hi, flawless.
A cortisone shot is a common treatment for inflammation and pain caused by a herniated disc. While it is unlikely that the cortisone shot directly caused your bleeding, there could be several reasons why you started bleeding heavily two days after the shot.
One possibility is that the bleeding is related to your menstrual cycle. Cortisone shots are not known to interfere with menstrual cycles, but the timing of the shot and the bleeding could be coincidental. Heavy bleeding during menstruation is not uncommon, and can be caused by a variety of factors such as hormonal imbalances, fibroids, or endometriosis.
Another possibility is that the bleeding is related to a side effect of the cortisone shot, such as gastrointestinal bleeding. While this is not a common side effect, it can occur in some cases. If you have a history of stomach ulcers, this could increase your risk of bleeding from the shot.
It's also possible that the bleeding is related to another medical condition or medication that you are taking. Certain medications, such as blood thinners, can increase the risk of bleeding. Additionally, medical conditions such as liver disease or clotting disorders can cause heavy bleeding.
It is important to contact your doctor and inform them of the bleeding that you are experiencing. They can evaluate you and determine the cause of the bleeding and recommend appropriate treatment. If the bleeding is heavy or accompanied by other symptoms such as dizziness or fainting, seek immediate medical attention.
