I have the same issue as well. And, you know, its more common in people with HP laptop, as I read the comments above. Also, people I know tell about such an experiences with HP laptops. May be HP laptops have an exhaust that opens downwards, towards the thigh, which blows out the heat and then burns the thigh skin, slowly. Long exposure and use can leave long term effects. For example, I now have continuous pain and strange sensation around that spot on my thigh, all the time, whether I am using the laptop or not. This is because of long use of laptop on the lap in past. I think HP must be answerable/responsible for this health hazard being caused by their products and they must be held accountable as well. HP needs to be sued, I suggest, for not just the damages they have already caused to their consumers, but they must abstain from producing/marketing such health-risk laptops and other products. An example needs to be set for future, so that manufacturers not only produce good products technology wise but give consumers' health due priority/concern as well.

Hey guys, thanks to you all for participating. Cool how we can all pool info and use it together!Let's try to see if varying the amount of radiation makes a difference. Like the person before me suggested, can somebody see if it makes a difference to turn off the wireless for a while? I don't feel the effects so noticeably, so there is no point in me trying this, but would like to know from others. The other thing people could try is putting a metal sheet between their lap and the laptop. Electromagnetic shielding (see wikipedia) blocks radiation from a source. I'm really curious whether you will detect any difference with a metal sheet/mesh on your lap!

Despite what manufacturers and the like say...this IS caused by close proximity to WIFI! Turn OFF your WIFI, use a cable instead... and don't sleep near your router. It isn't the heat from your laptops.. it's the 2.4 GHZ electromagnetic radio frequency from your WIFI cards. There is plenty of evidence around about electro-sensitivity and even it's links to cancer. There are also EM protective materials that you can put between you and the WIFI source... I use something called Swiss shield... it's like a cotton type material that is woven with silver and copper and stops the wifi dead in it's tracks.. I own an EM meter so I can actually measure the difference... people, it's up to you to do your own research!

Hi Manav
SInce i last wrote , i have found out that i have electro magnetic sensitivity. i am now unable to go near a tv, cell phones, cell masts, radio etc etc
i can now manage 5 mins on a computer . I have had lots of homeopathic treatment which has now allowed that.
i cant go out anymore due to this. sensitivity which has been a nightmare for me and my family. All started with a laptop and then progressed. Be careful you do not get to my stage.
go on a detox, and support your immune system.

Hi - I have a Dell laptop that is very heavy (desktop replacement and never intended to travel w/ me etc.) I think I've wrecked my legs. They feel weird and weak all the time from the knee area to about mid-thigh.. I think its the sheer weight sitting on my legs and cutting off circulation, and the electromagnetic forces also, not to mention the heat. My son did a commercial in college and produced a "product" to prevent "toasted leg syndrome" - a real thing -- and though I don't have discoloration of the skin, like I said my legs are compromised, which stinks because it makes it difficult to exercise, run, walk nowadays, it gets to weak and tiring.
Weird, huh? I hope it heals and goes away on its own. Right now I am typing on a pc. of plywood wrapped in a towel that straddles the arms of my lounge chair so Idon't have to have it on my legs.

hi, I had the same problem. I was in my computer for a real long time. You can reduce the pain by putting on lotion if it is still burning you should wash it with soap and water. when you are done put on soft or cotton pants. Relax for 20 min. then you can resume to your computer. I hope this works for you it did for me.

I've been suspicious of electromagnetic fields (EMF's) emitted by computers/mobile phones since noticing a pattern of exposure and symptoms which have included snowy vision, tinnitus, tingling sensations, twitching, among others, in the absence of any other disease or causal factors. While there is no proof that EMF's from these devices have detrimental health effects, many people like myself seem to be sensitive to them.
Computers and smart phones emit a lot of junk EMF 'noise' from the processor, in addition to radio-frequency (RF) EMF's from WiFi/GSM signals. Try putting an AM radio near a computer or smart phone when switched on and you will hear a spectrum of noise which increases as the AM radio is brought closer to the computer/smart phone. This is from EMF's emitted by the computer/smart phone's processor and internal electronics. Shielding probably will not make any difference. Put aluminium foil between the AM radio and computer and you will see that this type of rudimentary shielding makes no difference. The only solution is to keep well away from the device or switch it off entirely.
So what is going on? Low frequency EMF's, in the radio frequency spectrum, at the very low power levels emitted from computers/mobile phones are thought not to have any biological effects since these EMF's are non-ionising and there power levels too low to cause thermal effects. Either the symtoms are psychosomatic or there is something as yet overlooked or undiscovered occurring (I would like to think these 'electro-sensitivity' symptoms are psychosomatic). There is still no proof of any real bio-effects from low power RF EMF's, though this is not to say there are none. Electro-sensitivity, though widespread, does not appear to be an epidemic, at least not yet. Why are some individuals sensitive and not others? I would like to see more research with better designed, more objective experiments (involving blood tests, for example) of electro-sensitive people over a period of months/years to better account for subsidence of symptoms following exposure.

I also have the same problem with my HP laptop. It cases a numb mild pain and a burning sensation on my left thigh within about 15 minutes of placing. The power supply of the computer is on the left side but it does not feel hot when touched. What I find scary is that the sensation happens even when I place pillows between the computer and my leg. It is as if there is some microwave radiation that is able to pass through the pillow

I have the same problem on my left thigh and it makes me get a numb burning sensation along thigh my bone (similar to the bone weakness one feels when having Malaria) and just below my skin. Putting materials between my left leg and the laptop does not help; it seems the laptop is emitting microwave radiation that can pass through bedings. After reading the comments above, I turned off the WIFI and realized that the pain reduced dramatically.

I also get this same feeling with my iPad and laptop!! I don't get it with my iPhone. I have decided to stop using the iPad and laptop. I don't get it with my desktop. Let's all remember, Steve Jobs died of cancer. Could be coincidental. My nephew used a laptop several hours a day and night and ended up with testicular cancer. All of this could be coincidental, but it just seems too weird.

I have had this pain also - in my testicles and lower groin/behind them - and it seems to switch sides inexplicable while using laptop. It does seem to be wifi/laptop related - I have just now plugged in an ethernet cable instead of using the wifi. It seems to have removed the ache. If this turns out to be conclusive (for me) - I need to test more - then I am astounded that it is the wifi that has been causing this issue for a long time now for me (a few years). This is a big issue!!! Manufacturers need to inform us. Doctors need to become aware. As is they are clueless about this matter - certainly mine was.

Ok your all gonna love this, ive been getting a pain in my lower abdomin for 7 years now, all when I use my laptops, and i'm talking about maybe 5 different machines and if i move the laptop from my lap to my stomack i get the pain in my chest so ive tried to keep the use to a minimum but its difficult because i need it for work!!

I have exaactly the same problem, ive had other lap tops no problem, this one ive had sevwen months and the pain is always present now but gets worse if i put lap top on lap.... getting a refund tommorow under the sale of goods not fit for use act..... think were going to hear more about this in future.... and I am expecting long term repurcussions,,, photo copying my receipt and seeing the dr to get it logged..
