I'm 22 years old and I lost my virginity yesterday. It took him like a good 20 seconds to get in before he actually got in and the first attempt it did hurt, but you have to relax. The pelvis is a muscle so you could probably be tightening your muscles without even knowing it. but I know. for me it did hurt cause obviously it was my first time but then once I cleared my head and breathed it actually felt good! I was shocked I thought it would be nothing but pain but I actually didn't have pain after the hard part was over.after I couldn't walk for a couple hours lmao! but it hurts cause the muscles are tight. once you do it again and again and again your muscles will loosen and it'll be nothing! don't stress it, nothing's wrong it's just your vagina isn't use to it yet. give it more time you'll be alright :)

that's what I thought. I'm 22 and it did hurt for me honestly but right after he inserted it it wasn't all that bad. I actually felt the good sensation lol but it takes time. the first is NEVER easy my older brother told me that. you gotta do it like more than 2 times to really let your muscles loose

I had the same problem last night! Me and my boyfriend tried to have sex for the first time, I'm a virgin he's not. He tried to finger me to get me comfortable but he couldn't even put his fingers half way in or even the tip in with out me being in a lot pain. The problem, from what the OP (and several others) described, might not be the vagina at all, but rather the vestibule. (And this area, between the labia starts out closed together, and so you might think you've gone “in”, but only a little bit. So yes, we need to make sure what “half way in” really means). She had too many nerves in the vestibule, and had to have some of them removed. Everyone may not have that condition, but if the area is sensitive, then the pelvic floor muscles pushing the labia together can also pose a problem.
