I'm a 20 year old male and I'm having unusual bouts of constipation. I am very perplexed about this because I eat fresh vegetables and fruits, a bowl of oatmeal everyday and I exercise four times a week (I haven't this week because of anxiety over this). I found myself so constipated to the point that I could not go no matter how much I strained. It's like everything would work right up to the point when it's time to expel the waste. It just stops as if something was blocking it. In a desperate effort I stuck my finger in my anus in order to get what little feces I could out.:$ And to my horror I found blood mixed in with the feces. So I went to the ER and they gave me a prescription of Golytely with some bentyl and anucort for the hemorrhoid I developed as a result of straining (which was most likely why there was blood present in my stools). The golytely worked perfectly and I felt such relief and thought my problems were over and I could get back to normal. Wrong!! Two hours after I ate my bowl of oatmeal I sat on the toilet and expected the familiar bowel movement to come to me once again(that's what oatmeal usually does to me). Instead, little thin chunks came out and I was so disappointed. That was yesterday. Today I had a "bowel movement" in which my stools were of a dark brown/green color and narrower as usual (probably about the width of my finger). I'm so scared and frustrated at the same time. Could this be colon cancer even though I'm just 20 and have no family history of this disease? I already have type 1 diabetes and that's tough enough; I don't think I could handle another major disease. :'(
