I have been having periods for 5 years now, and since I started, they have lasted at minimum 2 weeks to 5 weeks (at maximum). I also bleed very heavily when I have them, and I end up very weak by the end of my periods. I can have two to three back to back, or I sometimes don't have any for up to 6 months at a time. Is this a serious medical problem? Why are they so irregular? I've never been to a ginocologist, and I'm 18 years old. I've not given it serious thought before now because I often heard that periods can be irregular at first, but it has been 5 years! I also have alot of clots with my periods, usually at least the size of a quarter. I need advice!!!

I started having my periods 6 years ago but they are still very irregular, they can vary from 29 days to 57 days! Is this a sign that I am ill? Is this normal? I am worried that there is something wrong with me.
