I'm going to India for six months, and will have to take Malarone every day to protect myself against maleria. My partner is coming with me, so I'm planning to stay on birth control so I'm protected against pregnancy as well. I asked my doctor when he prescribed Malarone whether my BC would still be effective, and he said no. However, I also asked my pharmacist when I picked up my prescription, and he said that yes, BC will not be affected by maleria medication, so long as the medication does not cause sever stomach upset.
I'm inclined to believe my pharmacist, since he's in the business of really understanding drugs, but I want to be sure (I REALLY don't want to end up getting pregnant while in rural India!!)- does anyone know if my BC will still be as effective while I'm taking Malarone?

yes your bc shuld be efectiv with Malarone but there is a risk that it may cause the Malarone to not work properly
