Hi,

I’m a 52 year old woman and I’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis. My doctor recommended me to start the treatment with forteo injections since the osteoporosis already progressed way too far (I’ve had 2 fractured bones in last 6 months). But, the thing is, forteo cost is sky-high! It seems like I’d have to pay around $800 per month for these daily injections and even my doctor couldn’t tell me for how long should I be on this treatment. On top of everything, I’ve read that forteo could have some very serious and possibly lethal side effects and I just don’t know what to think anymore. I’d like to get a second opinion, but our money is really tight at the moment, with holidays and everything.

What I was hoping for is for someone who has been on forteo treatment to tell me if the treatment proved effective, are there any major side effects or are there any better alternatives.
