Hi. My friend went to a dinner. He got fish, but after a dinner he got some severe symptoms like swelling and breathing difficulties. Later, he was diagnosed with fish allergy. I would like to know if it is possible to be allergic only to specific type of fish or not. I would appreciate all your replies.

Hi, there. You can be allergic to a specific type of fish. And it doesn’t mean that if you are allergic to one type of fish, you will be allergic to other as well. Your friend should be tested for other types as well. He should avoid the types he is allergic too. Sometimes, this kind of allergy can give serious adverse reactions, even anaphylactic reactions. Unfortunately, this kind of allergy is life-long. I hope there will be some other types of fish your friend could eat. Good luck to him! Bye!
