You listen here. The "m***n" that insulted you should tar & feathered! I hope you don't call yourself a CHRISTIAN! You give us REAL CHRISTIANS a bad name. May GOD punish you for your lack of compassion & arrogant attitude!
Listen you are so right about wanting to file a lawsuit against Eli Lily. I just took myself off Cymbalta 2 wks ago. I was taking Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia & not Depression. But that's not here nor there. It will take you a good 2wks to start feeling kind of normal. I am a 52 year old woman. I'm 5ft 2in tall small framed. I weighed 130LBS in 2006 before I started taking Cymbalta. Now in 2011 I weigh in at a whopping 200LBS. The reason for the weight gain is water retention. That's right water retention which has caused my Blood Pressure to raise very high. I take 3 different Blood Pressure medications every day. BP meds to make my kidneys drain the water I'm retaining. Is it working? No! I could have a stroke at anytime. I have chest pains often. My body can't take this abuse & I mean ABUSE I suffer because of this drug! This is a very dangerous drug! Since I quit taking Cymbalta I'm starting to slowly loose weight. I'm urinating 3-4 times a day vs once a day on Cymbalta. So I have faith some of the damage can be reversed. At least enough so I can enjoy my grandchildren. I want to sue also and I have contacted attorneys Saunders & Walker PA. In Florida. Their number is 800-748-7115. Hope they can help you! GOD BLESS & Good Luck!

You're an imbecile, first off. E. L. Lilly has been lying about it's drugs for years. they need to be more than sued, they should be taken down for unethical purposes alone. The only reason that Cymbalta and Zoloft, and Paxil even got approved by the FDA was because more than half the board had a vested interest at making money off the drug. Which means they were paid off to hide the facts. Cymbalta IS NOT FULLY DISCLOSED!!!

I am currently trying to get off the medicine, which BTW has been proven NOT TO WORK, try watching Generation RX sometime. E L Lilly hide suicidal facts, depression facts, and withdrawal affects. These are facts and make this company full of scumbafgs who do not care about the anyones general health, simply getting them hooked on this poison to make money.

Don't be so insensitive, you have no idea what people like me and others are going through. As a consumer and a human being I have the right to know EVERYTHING about what I decide to put in my body. E L Lily doesn't seem to think the same, and should be held responsible for their actions. Whether it being sued, or taken down. Either way people need to know ALL the risks, which presently they are not disclosing......

I called Sanders and Walker and spoke with David. I couldn't believe my ears. He was not at all interested. Perhaps one of the partners would be better but David was not sympathetic to the cause at all. Andy Vickery is a great attorney, very sympathetic to the cause, but he is about to retire. Still looking for the lawfirm. Will keep you posted if I find one.

I was prescribed cymbalta for back pain in late 2009 and within a week, I was immobilized.  Every joint felt like the connective tissue was deteriorating. I had back fusion with titaniun rods in 2004 and an injury to the sciatica in 2008. I cannot take nsaids because they killed my stomach so I was on hydrocodone  and they were looking for an alternative.  It took me a long time to get off that c**p because I had to reduce the dosage by GRAINS.  The withdrawal was worse than getting off oxycontin prescribed to me for surgery in 2004.  My knees and thumb joints have not recovered from my cymbalta experience and I basically use my hands in my profession.  I am still recovering from the effects of cymbalta and cannot work outside of the home.

Does anyone have a lawsuit out for this I am on this drug and tried several times to come off but can't I feel terrible so I feel like I won't be able to at least no time soon. Please respond if anyone is interested in trying to make it known about this drug and finding an attorney to take this case I'm in greenville,sc

I don't know about lawsuits but I have recently found that I cannot take myself off of the Cymbalta because of the serious withdrawal symptoms.
I was put on the Cymbalta because of pain from Fibromyalgia. I read the warnings and no where in the warnings did it say that I would suffer horribly if I tried to stop taking the Cymbalta. It did not warn that my
brain would literally short circuit nor that I was going to be worse off
when I tried to stop taking this drug than I was before I started taking
it. I had a good doctor. I doubt he knew. I would feel better on heroin too, but at least we know what to expect in withdrawal from that drug. Don't let anyone bully you. The drug company did not properly advise you as to what was going to happen if or when you decided to stop taking the drug.

So Mr srives1 i think your totally WRONG for saying anything.

First, if you have ever been on ANY TYPE of medication you should understand the "cause and effect" of the medication. For example:you have a fever, you take some tylenol....fever goes away. In the case of Cymbalta and a host of other medications that people take, it takes time for the medication to get in your system....days and even weeks. If you know that, it's reasonable to expect that it will take some time to get off the medication. Everyone is different, so the time it takes will be different.

Second, I personally don't think "praying to God for strength to get off by yourself" is a fair statement. I personally have been on Cymbalta, and it worked well for me for some time, but it stopped really helping with the pain and with my doctor and God's help I have been able to get off the medication safely. I agree that God can help those who ask, but at times he works through others(my doctor for instance).

Finally, I agree that there are way to many "law-suites" out there, but I feel that the drug companies have an obligation to test fully the products they put on the market. Unfortunatley, it almost never happens....it's always a race to have the next "miracle" drug on the market.

I hope this both helps and educates those of you reading this.

tessr71, It sounds like you didn't suffer some of the horrible and debilitating side effects that some people have experienced while taking Cymbalta. Did your doctor explain to you all the dangers that could befall you should you have been one of the unfortunates? The problem with this drug and many like it is the doctors are supposed to fully disclose not only to the patient, but the patient's family all about the possible side effects because they are so ravaging. The doctors don't either fully understand what a black box warning is or they are ignoring this clear command, either way it is unforgivable to put someone on a deadly, toxic substance that can cause unrelenting harm. It doesn't always happen but it can and that is the point. The right to know. That is why you will hear talk of lawsuits. These people are not making up these stories. There are so many people who have suffered so severely. Not only this blog but you can go to other blogs or YouTube and other places. So, just because you didn't have that bad a time with Cymbalta and you had a physician who apparently has a clue about weaning you off doesn't mean that is the case with everyone. I wish you continued success. I would also Google Dr. Breggin as he has a website filled with info about SSRIs. I would also Google ssristories as this is a extensive listing of mayhem, harm, death and injury that has befallen the public due to the side effects of these psychotropics. Good luck to you!

Yes I was lucky, but please don't mistake what I said. I do understand and have personally experienced side effects from SSRIs I have and currently take. I agree that doctors should understand the possible effects of the medications they prescribe, but it is also my responsibility to research and educate myself on the drugs that my doctor wants me to take. I know of no doctor that "makes" their patients take medication with out consent, with the exception of those in a mental health setting are are court ordered to do so. I honestly have no problem with people filing lawsuits. I hope that those of you on this endeavor will have success. That's all

I am trying to understand your point. Doctors for the most part are the ones who have been formally educated and therefore understand thoroughly the effects and side effects of medicines they prescribe. To say it is also the responsibility of the patient to research and educate oneself would open up all types of problems. First, most people, not having the specialized knowledge wouldn't really understand the pharmacological science behind said drug. That stated, I concur with you in part, because of the sloppy medicine that is upon us, we need to be more educated. It is a sad commentary when we can't "trust" our doctors to know what is best for us. Besides, many people still trust their doctors implicitly which means they don't feel like it is necessary to "research" said drug or drugs. In a round about way, I agree with you, simply because many doctors are not doing an adequate job when dispensing medicines. When it came to my family member who was obviously having extreme mental challenges, we, the family, had no clue it was the medication, that is, not until his body was found. After research, after the fact, I now know his death was preventable. It was and is a travesity that the family wasn't fully informed of the many side effects that Cymbalta can dp and does do. We, the family, were never informed about a black box warning and what that implies. You are correct, never again will we be caught off guard and not fully research (as non-scientists) a drug that is prescribed. Which brings to mind, even the seemingly innocuous ones such as Accutane; a seemingly simple acne medication that can wreak havoc on the intestines. If you read the posts on this blog as well as other blogs you will no doubt seem the pain many of the surviving patients that were prescribed Cymbalta are going through. Some of them have severe suicidality caused by Cymbalta a psychotropic that can and does change ones perceptions. Are you saying that these obviously suffering people are responsible for their own pain and suffering because they didn't research the drug(s) they were prescribed? Perhaps by the very nature or their physical/mental problem they didn't have the skill set to do due diligence.  I appreciate your thoughts and believe it is through this type of discourse lives can be saved.

I am sorry if I have offended you, that is not my intent. I need to make something clear I think. I suffer with Bipolar disorder and have for the last 18 years. I personally know the "pain and suffering" not to mention the hell it invokes. It is because of this that I know that doctors really don't know much. It is also why I ask questions, do the research, ect. You mentioned that you lost someone, I'm so sorry. I understand the pain and the anger even more. I lost a cousin to suicide just last November and almost lost my sister this week. No, I don't think it is the "patient's" sole responsibility, but I don't feel like it's the doctors either.
You stated that the " Doctors for the most part are the ones who have been formally educated and therefore understand thoroughly the effects and side effects of medicines they prescribe" would it suprise you to find out that most doctors don't know, but that they are given the "information" from the drug companies that the GOOD ONES
