I have Addisons disease too. Last year I skipped medicines and ended up with a cardiac arrest. I am lucky to be alive.

Hi I take the same amount of hydro Cortizone as you do. I am on it over a year and have gained four stone. I do a 15 minute workout and a walk every day. I drink more water and stick to Weight Watchers diet and nothing seems to take any weight off. There must be an answer somewhere. Hi Dr is interested in keeping me alive but no interest in my weight gain.

I was diagnosed a year ago currently on 20mg daily of Cortef and energy is normal I exercise 10x weekly but struggle with the weight gain. If your energy is still poor I suggest you have your dosage reviewed along with getting your thyroid checked and intrinsic factor as there may be another underlying issue which unfortunately is common with autoimmunity

This is only true if you have primary adrenal insufficiency. Many on here have secondary it seems.

That makes a lot of sense, except for Addison's disease persons are what they call "salt losers". In fact, it is recommended that one "ups" ones intake of the right kind of salt. I use Himalayan Pink for everything and, in particular, "sole" (HP salt water) added to my water or green tea. I only had temporary weight loss results by doing a fasting mimicking diet, but over time, I started eating all the clean foods I like again, and put the weight right back on. I truly hate taking this medication. When I first started it, I went from 108 to 150 in less than 6 months and eventually topped out at 174. Unbelievable for a girl who used to always weigh 120. Trying to move the needle at 154 now.

I’m so sorry for your suffering! I totally sympathize. I have advanced Lyme which destroyed my adrenals, my thyroid, my hormones (my whole endocrine system). Through God’s help and the naturopathic doctor He led me to, I’m doing much better, but still have to take 20 mg of hydrocortisone daily to prevent asthma, fevers and profound fatigue. I

I was able to manage my weight for three years by keeping sugars extremely low along with greatly reduced dairy, until I was deathly ill with covid last year and had to be on high dose steroids for a month. Ever since, I have had a terrible time getting my weight managed where I want it, but I’m NOT giving up.
I know extremely LOW sugars (under 20 mg), and maybe less, along with low dairy, will be needed. It’s just been so hard to do it, but I’m going to do it by God’s grace!

I pray you get the breakthrough you need friend. God bless you.

I so relate to your situation, and agree we need a miracle! I know Jesus is going to heal me, and all who call on His name, but we must hold on and pray for answers to get us through until our miracle comes. I know it’s coming! Hold on friend. God is with you. Many blessings.

I’ve been on hydrocortisone for five years now and my adrenals make zero cortisol, my thyroid is shot, my hormones don’t work, but we can often (not always) manage the weight challenges if we discipline ourselves consistently to eat extremely low sugars, low dairy, low carbs, good protein, small quantities of food, and kindof like a “healthy” keto where you have salads and low carb veggies with good protein, but you’ll need to eat smaller quantities than before.

This is what I’ve experienced, and I’m having a harder time now because my eating got out of those boundaries, but I know what I need to do.
It’s just challenging to maintain such a strict diet continuously. Nevertheless, you can do it! Be encouraged. I’m believe God is going to heal my adrenals one day, and it will indeed be a miracle and He will get all the glory! Blessings to you.
