can getting the lupron depot shot give u a false positve pregnancy test..since it is a hormone injection....

The Lupron Depot belongs to a class of drugs called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists. The shot is designed to LOWER levels of GnRH. However, pregnancy tests are designed to detect HIGHER levels of the GnRH, a special antibody associated with with pregnancy. This means, that there is not possibility of achieving positive results on a pregnancy test as a result of a Lupron shot.

There have been studies to deternine if Lupron increases likely hood of your becoming pregnant. The results, however, showed women who received the Lupron injection had an equal chance of becoming pregnant as those women who had no shot.

Nonetheless, home pregnancy test requires conformation by your Doctor; and it is possible to receive a false-positive result from home pregnancy test due to the inaccuracies of the test alone. Therefore, I would recommend that if you think you are pregnant or you have received a positive result from a home pregnancy test, see your Doctor to confirm the results.

Hope this answers your question!
